Hyperlink help please

I see many people have hyperlinks in their signatures and it's driving me nuts but I can't figure out how to do this.

I found this HTML code and tried to use it

<a href="http://example.com/">Example</a>

Is it just a matter of putting that in the signature section and replacing the EXAMPLE portions? I tried and it just prints the whole HTML code. What am I missing here? I'm totally prepared ot give a big "DUH" on this one.

You can't use HTML on this forum. Instead, use the builtin markup language by clicking on the buttons on top of the message editor. You can insert a hyperlink by clicking on the button with the Earth and some chain linkage.

Told you I'd say Duh! I checked every one of those buttons except the Earth one.

Instead of having something like this: http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/index.php, You can put a link in a word by selecting a word (as if you were going to copy and paste), then click the earth with chain links and put in your link to come out as so: Drummerworld. If you press preview in a post you can see the word become a link.
