I'm a new bloke on the forum. Playing drums for about 15 years now. At the moment I'm playing on a Mapex Mars Series (22", 14" 10", 12", 14"). Nothing special really. I'm planning on buying a new kit (well, second hand. Much cheaper). I play in a emocore/hardcore/metalcore band. I've been looking for reviews on various kits. One of them is the Ddrum Dominion Ash Pocket. I love the punk-sized drums! 20X20 kick, looks like a bazooka, big shallow toms, amazing. Unfortunately I haven't found a review on this kit yet. I'm curious about your opinion. Since Ddrum is not the biggest brand in the bizz and prices are quite low, I catch myself thinking that theyre kits can't be all that good. So what kits from what brands is this Ddrum Dominion Ash Pocket comparable with? Tama Superstar Hyperdrive for example? Gretsch Catalina Club Mod? Unleash the fury |

I'd say it's comparable with a tama superstar in terms of quality. Obviously they are going to sound different due to the wood types and shell sizes. The shells in the tama superstars are considerably smaller. They are sapose to offer a more punchier sound. I play tama superstars and Ddrum maple dominion. They are both great sets.

I've never heard of Ash being a very good wood, but I could be wrong.

I have the Tama superstar hyperdrive custom kit and its sick. The hardware is great and the toms have a nice punchy attack to them. The kick is just awesome. 22x20 and thunderous.
Go with the Tama... |
