Default DW 5000 turbo or accelerator?

Hello people.
I just purchased the DW5000 delta 3 accelerator. Its ok,but I wondering what the difference was between the accelerator and the turbo double kicks? Is there a price difference? I'm kind of new to double kicking (left leg real weak).I'm a bit of a heavy footed player.I love the feel of a heavy pedal. Some pedals are to light and get way ahead of me.I play hard rock and heavy metal.I hope thats enough info to get some help. Thanks

As far as I know, the difference between the two is that the Turbo has a chain-sprocket which is centered on the pedal shaft to provide a consisent feel, as opposed to the sproket on the Accelerator, which is offset to provide a little extra momentum to the beater as it strikes the head. There's no difference in price between the two models.

Drifter is correct. I use the accelerator myself, the turbo is great as well, it just depends on what you like.

scroll half way down and you can see the difference on the 9000 between accelerator and turbo.

Yeah, I use the turbo because it gave me a better feel but I know plenty that use accel models. Of course if you got a 9000 you could just switch modes but then again you would probably only stick with one of the 2 anyway. That's why I got a 5000. I like the turbo. The turbo responds with exactly what your foot does. The one you got is quicker but with a little less direct control. If that is how you would put it.

I actually have mine adjusted a little more toward the turbo setting but not quite so it's truly in between ;-)

Thank you.Thats some great info.I may stick with the accelerator just because I already have it.It sounds like I couldn't go wrong with either.
Thanks again.

You can't go wrong, but if you can get to a shop to play both, you will have a better idea. The accelerator felt right for me, and its what I now have. It feels a little heavier than my old strap drive Gibraltar, but it is what I was looking for in feel.

This should be your mantra while testing...

Its all about the feel........

The strap drive will give you a lighter feel. I just switched out the chain for the the strap a few months ago on my 9000 and WOW talk about changing a pedals feel!!!! I'm loving the strap drive!!!!
