Try Clear Powerstroke threes on your toms, a coated on the snare and a clear on the bass, kind of like pinstripes by design but more open and not as dead.

Good luck! without knowing what kind of drum kit you own, type of wood shell diameters, etc. I can not help you.
Are you playing mic'd unmic'd? etc. etc.

remo ambassador coated or clear over remo amb clear. Although I would recommend the coated from the two, (just my personal preference).
Except bass drum, PS3 clear.

Evans equivalents are.
G1 coated or clear over G1 clear.
PS3 ='s Evans?????
can someone help here?
I'm not totall familiar with Evans bass drum heads.

PS3 = Evans EQ4. Single ply with built in ring. I think :)

there is no real "what is best" answer.....if that was the case we'd all be using the same heads. why do you think so many replies are so different?

experiment...that's the only way you'll find YOUR sound.

Onyx is pretty good for metal and hard rock, slightly darker but has that thuddy rock sound if that's what you like. I used them for a few months and found I liked them on the 12" and 14" toms.

If you go Aquarian, the Performance II's are good for rock and metal, again thuddy sound with little sustain and resonance. Sort of the classic rock soudn with a hint of modern tone. I have these on my kit and like them, but I'm waiting for my Super 2's to come in as I prefer a warmer tone. Again, they sound great on the bigger toms, but tend to get too choked on the 10" tom and I don't have them tuned high. If you decided to go Aquarian, use Classic clears on the Bottom.

Their Aquarian Super Kick II is also great along with the Regulator, gives a nice oomph and not too boomy.
