I was ripped off on Ebay one time a while ago.

I discovered a Sabian B8 Pro 16" crash, and the bid was really low, so I put one in.
The discription was great, and the pic showed no cracks, dings, keyholes, dents, and barely any stick marks.
I ended up winning it for $46.00 (including shipping). : )

I received the cymbal about a week later, and it looked great.
Nice, shiny, but there was a problem.

About an inch in, there was a crack.
I don't know how the crack ended up there, but I do know that there was no warning about the crack in the description.

The cymbal played alright, but there was a difference.

seems decent but not incredible 805. Might just be my perspective with the exchange rate though.

hows this one? http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/msg/1190146435.html
I offered $950 and the guy said he'd do $750 because he think I'm a newbie.
must be one kind hearted guy, or he knows $950 is rippin me a little.
but for $750 canadian, should I buy and resell it?

Yeah, that looks like a great deal. I don't like the tom sizes however.

I don't get it. It's listed for 950. How could you offer him 950? and he said 950 firm.... For 750, I'd probably get it, but I don't think the toms have any bottom hardware. That sucks.

I'd say get this if you're planning on starting an 80's hair-metal band.

Sorry, I offered him $900 originally.
and I'm definitely NOT planning on keeping it for hair-metal fetishes, just thinking some local metalheads might dig it.
Guy seems a little sketch though.
This is going to take some serious consideration...

This one was in one of the local pawn shops I check periodically. The guy tells me he has a vintage Ludwig kit for $5000 in a locked room . So his assistant takes me there to see a B/O pointy badge maple five-piece kit natural finish, no re-rings, standard depths 12/13/16/22 and a Rocker snare. I don't know when Ludwig stopped using re-rings or what year these drums are, but I suspect late 70s early 80s. After I looked at them, I told the sales girl I thought they were over priced, but thanked her. She told me I could make a lower offer, but I said I didn't want to insult the owner, but the kit was worth $1500 tops. Was I wrong?

And around the corner in another pawn shop was an LM400 supersensitive, B/O badge, round corners, with a bit of an issue with what looks like steel wool to remove some sort of label. Price $99.00...or make an offer. If I remember correctly the serial number was something like 941XXX or 914XXX. Any thoughts?

I certainly wouln't give him more than the $1500.00 for that kit. You could buy new legacy Classics for less than five grand !

As far as the snare goes it sounds like it's from the mid-seventies. If the SS strainer works well, and the shell and hoops are in round, I'd say under $100.00 is a good deal. The scratched chrome shouln't affect the playability of the drum. Of course you could always get it re-chromed. Good luck !

I think I got a pretty good deal on my Tama Starclassic Peformer Birch for $1950 including shipping... I got TWO 22" kick drums, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 all floating toms and 14" snare with air ride stand, including all mounting hardware and one stand for the 16 floor tom, with 2 SKB cases w/ padded interior for the kick drums and two large anvil style cases that fit all of the rest of the shells with dividers for each shell.

KD snare. They're a fairly small UK custom drum company, but compared to other custom drum builders, this is really cheap!

Ludwig snare question for you guys. I can pick up a LM400 (5x14 supraphonic) with Chicago badge. It has a moderate amount of chrome pitting & no other issues. $100.00 even. Sounds good to me, what do you think?

It needs new heads and a new strainer...

Some guy wants $2200 for the following

"Ludwig Mid 60's 5 Piece drums with cases, white marine pearl raps, snare is 1962 jazz festival. 13,14 toms, 14 snare, 16 floor tom, 22 bass. Drums are in great condition bass drum rap needs a little seem work.
Hate to sell but have to, 2,200.00... Hardware and cymbals negotiable.

Call Mike 951 205-5046

Location: Menifee Valley"

I'll bet the toms are 12 and 13. If you look closely, the lugs on the smallest tom are smaller than those on the next size larger. 12" toms had smaller lugs, but not 13" toms. IMO. Here's the link in San Bernardino, CA
