DW 9000. Probably the last hi-hat stand I'll ever buy. It has it all.

Do you iron cobra users have the regular chain ones or the one with the kevlar strap. If so do you know the difference between them. Which would you recommend?

Ludwig L316 double braced. Nothing special,it does the job though it feels stiff.

the kevlar strap one is better. The Lever glide (the one i use, and the higher end one) uses the strap. the Velo glide uses the chain. the Velo is still a very nice high hat. but the level gldie i find is smoother and quicker

read up at http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/product/ha...08&id=2&area=2 for more info on Tama stuff (link is to high hat stands)

I went cheap and got just a simple Gibraltar
it works great
I really see no need for a really expensive one
they all pretty much feel the same to me

A single braced Yamaha stand. What would currently be a Yamaha 740. Steve Gadd used the same basic model, and I never heard him complain about his hi-hat stand, so I thought I'd give it a try myself. My DW 5000 was nice enough, but a little too heavy. The Yamaha does the job perfect. Bought mine "used" off eBay.

I used a second-hand yamaha 700 series mainly as its single braced so lightweight and it smooth enough for me, too smooth and it just dont feel right for me.

Bingo - the same as me. Yamaha hardware is so nice, you cant beat their stands at all. Their only downside is the clamps are a bit weak so i use pearl for those.

DW 500 chain I like because of the two post lenghts and the clutch. Also have a IC strap two legger that is butter smooth.

i swap out my hat stands depending on my configuration between a Pearl single braced hi hat, a yamaha remote hat and a Gibraltar legless ultimate adjust hat. I'm not very picky at all about my stand, if it goes down when i step on it and comes up when i let it go, i'm happy. I'm much more finicky about the clutch action toget that sweet spot in the "chick".

It was my birthday last week so I treated myself to a Tama Iron Cobra lever action hi-hat stand. I wanted one for years and I finally got it. I've been playing the stand for a week now. Its great!
My hat playing improved immediately! My timing control was better. The sound of my 13 1/4 K Custom Hybrids was even more pronounced and clean in all positions. I like the fact that I can tilt the stand toward me (because the stand only has two legs) so that my hats are easier to play.
The tension adjustment mechanism works great also.
Try one, You'll like it! Thank You Tama! I love your Iron Cobra bass pedal also!

I use on the gigs yamaha hipgig hi hat stand-it is 600 series but maybe little modified.
It is the best and lightest stand that i have used. I have from Gibraltar best hi hat stand in my practice room and want to sell it to buy another 600 yamaha(cheapest, lightest and perfect).
I want only to change drop clutch, it could be better.

I use a Gibraltar ultra-adjust legless. It clamps to my rack, and it doesn't just free up space, and clean up clutter. It puts the hats *exactly* where I want them.

DW 5000 two leg stand. It's heavy to haul around no doubt but it's solid. Still have my yamaha stand that came with my kit, I think like Harry's it would be a 740 series. Now that the double bass pedal sits in the corner I could probably go back to that for playing out and save some weight. 5000 is a sweet stand though!

I use the pearl h-820w. Far better than my stock cb hi hat stand, the hats don't fall of them all the time. It does the job well. I don't really see the point in having a 200 hi hat stand, bearing in mind i've never played one.

I have a DW 5000. It is super sturdy and very responsive. It's not new but it beats the pants off most other stands.

Currently I use a 2 leg yamaha type. No complaints other than I wish the steel looked better. For example put a DW or Tama stand next to Yamaha hardware and you notice they're chrome and yammie ain't.

Not a big deal though. I think my next one will the be IC Lever glide.
I've thought about getting a DW one again. I used to have a 5000 series, unfortunately 3 leg. It was a killer stand despite something got screwed up on the wingnut part for the height adjustment. I guess I lost parts for the sleeve and essentially it would not tighten properly. It still tightened when it shouldn't have and when I pulled the stand apart I found the top piece destroyed. It looked like a tank drove over it. I know its my fault but really, how would I know this high end piece of hardware would be the only thing to start disintegrating parts.

I have an old DW 5000, a newer DW5000 and a DW9000. They are all great but the 9000 is the smoothest I have ever used. It is effortless to play.

I had the 1st gen lever glide stand [pre-IC], and loved it. Wingnut stripped so I had to bum one for a few weeks, bought another Tama hh stand 'cause my buddy needed his, moved to a new place around the same time, and in the ensuing confusion lost the LG... so that 2nd Tama stand is still going strong 12+ years. Both stands were single-braced, & the newer one is thinner in the post sections than the 1st one. I'd love to have another LG but this one is serving flawlessly; feels the same today as when I first bought it & tweaked it to my liking. Haven't even adjusted the spring tension since. Golden. Tama rules.
