Here's my recent acquisition!

Sonor safari in Black Galaxy finish

16x16 bass, 5x14 snare, 8x10 tom, 12x14 floor tom. This little kit is awesome for the under-$350 crowd!

Funny you should ask! I started a thread on this kit the other day which is kind of a mini-review with a link to a video to hear it. The bass drum gave me a bit more oomph than I thought it would. Enjoy!

For the price of a Gretsch Catalina Jazz, you could get two of these things and go true double bass!

Not very spectacular, its just a beginner kit still, saving up for a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive kit :D

Awesome display of 4-piecers. Remember: it ain't the drums, it's the drummer!

Bo, the thing about that kit and the price is I paid only about 100 less to rebuild this kit. Money and labor, I would love to have that kit.

But the bumblebee kit has much more character! I'm picturing you doing a gig with it dressed up like John Belushi a la SNL when they did the South American Killer Bee skit!

DW Classics. Just take either the 14" or the 16" floor tom out of the picture and there you have it. That's what I do. It came as a four piece set and I added the 14" x 14" floor tom.

I don't know... there's something about a 4-piece that just feels right to me. and for some reason, having more cymbals than drums also feels right to me... besides the standard hi-hats, crash, and ride, I also use a splash and a chinese. (my kit is like Tom Sawyer's kit, but with the splash on the hi-hat side instead of by the ride)

P.S. I'll post pics of my kit in this thread when I get my new cymbals after the holidays.

Amen Brother! I am nearing middle-age and when I was in my teens I could dream of nothing more than a kit with 8 racks and two BD's. Now I am convinced not only that 4 piece kits just look the coolest, so sleek and to the point but also that the best, most talented drummers i.e., the most creative can do as much with four drums as well as with twenty. 4 Piece kits RULE!

It's a hard finish to capture indoors or out with a crappy camera but I do love it and the drums are marvelous. It's a Mappa Burl veneer in Ruby Burst.
