Default Behemoth new kit w/ 28inch bass drum

Hello everyone, I thought I would post my new custom kit. It is gigantic, shiny and loud.
Bass and toms all have a chrome wrap that looks weird in the pics due to the flash.

Sizes are…
28x16 Bass drum- Keller 10 ply maple (24 lugs on this alone)
14x12Rack tom- Keller 6 ply maple
18x18 Floor tom- Keller 8 ply maple
14x8 Snare- Pearl Vinnie Paul maple or Pork Pie piglite 14x6 clear acrylic

Aquarian Super Kick II bass drum head, and Evans EC2’s and ST on toms and snare.

I usually only play with 4 cymbals but 2 extras are on it in these pics
20 inch Z custom power ride
20 inch Z custom projection crash
20 inch Z custom China
16 inch Z custom rock/medium crashes as hi hats
The 2 extras are
12 inch Z Custom splash
9.5 inch ZFX Large Zil-Bell

DW 9000 Double pedal and hardware
Pork Pie Zebra throne

I play extreme Death Metal and Grind
Myspace.com/Sarafanband if you care to hear

let me know what you think of the kit :)

Kit looks great!! That kick must sound like thunder!! Did you get the shells and build it yourself or have a custom drum shop do it. I also LOVE the setup. Nice!!

Holy god man thats bigger than Bonham's stainless steel kit! I love it! Have fun blasting out those beats on that monster of a kit. Nice Vinnie Paul snare too. I'm mad that I don't have one because now that he switched to Ddrum they aren't making them anymore. Happy playing!

How can you stand to play with such tiny drums? they're so wimpy. at least it must be easy to lug them around to gigs.

In all seriousness this is one of the beastliest kits I have laid eyes on. Most dudes' bass drum beaters hit slightly too high on the kick head, but you have a problem with hitting too low. I think you need a 24" ride next.

Yeah I think I should invest in the extended length beaters, and I am talking to Sabian about getting a 28" AA ride lol since the 20 is just to small.

With some filtered water & a couple of packs of Trail-Mix, 12 little Indians could live in your bass drum for about a month.

Throw in your snare too, which could work as a kitchen, and then it could be a gated community.

Btw, did I say wow?

I'll try and get some more pics soon the kit kind of takes up all of my bands tiny practice room, so I couldnt fit it entirely in one photo.

Here is the direct links to the pics They appear to be showing up for me on here though.

And haha yeah I know what he means, but my other kit has a 26, so I figured a 28 would be nice and deep sounding. My band doesnt have a bass player so I think it makes our sound a lot less thin too. :)

You don't have to worry about the load of hauling these drums around...because you can fit the entire band and all of their gear *inside* of these drums.

Or, if you blow a flat on your monster truck, you'd have a handy spare in the back that would fit perfectly.

Alright, I'm done now. That's F#$^ing enormous! mikei is probably screaming with envy right now, he wanted to be the first here w/ a kick that big. We have a new record! Who's gonna one-up this dude?

I want to try a 28". I have two kits and one has a 22x18 and the other a 26x16. I love the 26" because of the low pitch and general boom but for tight grooves the 22 works better. I think I would love a 24" because it's in the middle. I would want an old 28" bass on like a Radio King set or something though.

You might want to change your Bass drum beater to a mallet or something . It looks like a Chihuahua try to mate with a Bullmastiff.

Now hang on, if you're going to stick to the 4" space in between your toms, a 22" floor tom is what you need! LOL!

That's the size of my bass drum :P

Holy cow those things are huge. You can probably see that kick from space (and even hear it :P)

I like the look of big drums like that. Something very old school about them.
Yours is pretty new school at the same time though haha

I am for sure getting a 28 x 20 this year for my kit.

So, I will be there soon enough!

Careful with the depth on a 28, you run into a few issues:
- They tend to get boomy and you'll have issues with a lack of focus
- Feel will suffer
- If you're not going through double doors, you could run into trouble getting through doors that 20 deep gets closer to 22 with hoops.

I've got a 14x28 DW that has a ridiculous amount of boom and punch, depth that is shocking, but unlike the stock 20" deep size DW offers, it's easily transportable (and probably a hell of a lot more focused). (Though if want some hint of that extra boom, I can just throw a woofer in front)

SuperKick 2 on a 28 is lethal.

hahaha! Mike has been talking about a 20x28 for months now.

I think he's going to actually go for it pretty soon though....but he does play an 18x26, & that's no pu$$y bass drum either......

I played a 20x28 for almost 15 years, and even though I loved it, it just got to be a PITA to move.
Not heavy, just kinda awkward and I even put wheels on the case to just push it.....so I went down to a 20x26....

I had a 16x28 too, and it was more "punchy", but I never had a problem with the 20" deep shell getting too boomy or out of control.
You just have to get the right tuning for how YOU play it, then you're good to go.
It just takes a bit of experimentation.

Even though I really love my 20x26, it was always fun taking that 20x28 out of the case at shows...the gasps of horror!! YEAHHH!!!
Once in a while I get urges to put the 28 back up again, but overall I dig the 26 more, and I love the Red Sparkle these days and the 28's I have are all Black.

Have fun rocking that 28 Evilbagua!!!
The chrome finish looks cool!

Everybody said it already, but your kit is huge man. I'd love to hear it in real life. Your music isn't really my style, but your kit seems perfect for it :-). I think Karls new drumset fits entirely into your bassdrum by the way.

:-) haha!
You must have missed where I said I had a 20x28 :-P
I still have it if you're gonna mess with me and make fun of my dinky kit, make me feel like a pu$$y & make me have to bring it back out

Hahahaha!

Man, you have no idea....EVERYTHING can fit inside the case for that 28 it's so dang huge...
My son and his little cousins used to make it into a fort when they were playing in the basement.

It wasn't the kick that was a problem lifting, moving or playing or anything, it was the stupid case that basically made me switch!
Not that the case for the 20x26 is small either....but at least it's not a behemoth of a thing.

I know the fun Evil is having with it, because you can't match the feel of a 28 with anything.
The 26 feels really good, but a 28 can feel very smooth, and the sound is ginormous.
It's different and not for everyone, but it's very cool.

Now, mikei has to get his 28, so he can get it out of his system and go on with life :-)!!
