Default which heads do you use on your Black Panther?

i've used the G1 etched, didn't like it, not dry and full enough

i've used an Ambassador, liked it because i can crank it and also have it sound wet

i've used a Controlled Sound, liked it ok but didn't feel sensitive enough

what heads have you liked and why?

What kind of black panther? I recently got a 13x6 maple collectors BP and still have the stock heads. It sounds fantastic. What I did, was tune the top head to an F and the bottom to a B. For the snares, I kept it as loose as possible in the middle setting, but enough to still have a snare sound.

If I were to guess, they would be Ambassadors over whatever the remo version of a hazy 300 is. I think thats what they are. They are still the ones with the BP logo on them but soon I will buy some g1's and H300'S.

I have a cherry/maple 13x6 BP with the Evans Genera HD Dry head with the stock reso. It sounds soooo good to my ears. its got so much crack with a rimshot, but its soooo sensitive at the same time. it just sounds so good...cant describe it that well.

I had the steel Kung-Fu Edition 14x5, best snare I've ever heard but I needed money for other things..
As for skins, The stock Ambassador Coated/Ambassador Hazy was perfect, I tried practically all of the snare heads Remo had to offer and kept coming back to the Ambassador. The Renaissance Ambassador and Controlled Sound would be my alternate options.

I recently purchased a Black Panther Cherry/Maple 6x13 snare drum and am very impressed with its overall quality and sound ... with one exception the batter head. I'm hearing some overtones which are annoying ... a tom-like tooom sound, even with the snares fully engaged.

I've used Remo Ambassadors for decades and love them, but have also enjoyed Emperors for a slightly dryer/deeper sound. Has anyone tried Emperors on a similar BP?

I'm new to this forum, but not new to drumming, so would appreciate any and all comments.

Thanks.

14 x 6 Thick Flame Maple. Aquarian Classic Clear Snare Side w/ Puresound Super 30 on the undercarriage and Aquarian Texture Coated w/ Power Dot on the business end of things. Just great feel and tone and very durable.
