The number one album that you must own is Images and Words by Dream Theater. I would be willing to burn you a copy and send it if you pay shipping.

That's distribution. And whether you get paid for it or not, it is still a copyright infringement and it is still a felony.

That may be the funniest post I've ever seen on the forum. Well played Delta. Well played, indeed.

Thanks for filling us in, Dad! Just kidding--it's probably not a good idea to post that offer on a public forum.

Anyways, this is the truth. Images and Words is one of the greatest albums ever recorded, EVER. You must get it, or else otherwise be forever unmetal.

If you're a Jojo Mayer fan, check out the album "Mystery To Me" by Janek Gwizdala. Beautiful drumming, including some very tasty jazzy drum n bass tunes. Oh baby!

-Any Fela Kuti album, particularly his live albums, aaaaand ummm,
-Herbie Hancock's Head Hunter,
-Kanye West's Graduation(his new one 808's and Heartbreaks is good, but slightly depressing),
-Once Nothing's "First Came the Law",
-Parliament Funkadelic's discography(never too much),
-Zion I -- "Mind over Matter"
-The Meter's Look-Ka Py Py
-Kind of Blue by Miles Davis
-A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
-OH! aaaaaand definitly Sidewinder by Lee Morgan.

All the other's are good too, but truthfully you don't have to own the albums, you can hear a majority of them on the radio

I'll list more later if I think deep about the question.

The only album I would say you actually NEED...is Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. That album is too good.

If you're eclectic, here's some ideas if you don't own them already:

Venetian Snares - Rossz Allag Szuelett
Can - Tago Mago
Tortoise - Standards
Helge Lien Trio - Spiral Circles
Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
Easy Stars All Stars - Dub Side of the Moon
Nick Cave - Lyre of Orpheus / Abattoire Blues
Ulver - Blood Inside
Nostromo - Ecce Lex
Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff
John Zorn's Masada - All of their albums must be owned
