This is the 17th of June. (Icelandic dependence day, I think ^^) We played 3 songs, Master of Puppets - Metallica, Hysteria - Muse and an Icelandic song.
At that time we only played covers, but now we're more into making stuff on our own. We've made 3 songs, I'll post those later on the appropriate thread :D. Well anyways here you go!

Oh, the joys of bar gigs. Here we are playing at a local watering hole. For most of our first set, there was this crazy drunk guy flailing about in front of the stage. After a while, he ran out of steam and decided it was a good idea to drop his pants (maybe to cool off?) and drop to the floor for a short rest. He was ejected from the bar soon after. You wouldn't know from the picture, but the bar was actually packed with people, but this guy scared everyone away from the stage. As you can see, I was way in the background, so I couldn't see too much of this as it was happening. That's a friend of mine in the foreground with the beer.

Ha!
Definitely one of the funniest gig photos I've seen. I think we've all had a guy like that at a show or two. I must say he looks like he was committed to partying that night. You guys rockes his pants off. You should use that in a flyer. Awesome pic!

LOL! You've even come up with a great tagline for the flyer: "We'll rock your pants off!"

Here's a bunch of pics from various gigs over the last couple of years. Most are on my Yamaha Recording Customs but there is one with my Roland Electronic Kit way in the back and my Yamaha Al Foster Hip gig kit for a beach gig. It's much easier to take that that on the ferry to get there.

A few new ones to add from a great show to a packed house the other night at the Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, B.C. by a band I co-lead called the Kane/Taylor Explosion doing our tribute to Cole Porter show featuring vocalist Noelle Pion. Daniel Miles Kane and and I have performed, toured and recorded together with different versions of this group we've fronted going on 18 years now.
Also featuring Martin Romero on congas, Allan Johnston on acoustic bass, Lorne Kellet on piano. Tom Wherrett on guitar, Daniel Miles Kane on sax and your's truly Stan Taylor on drums Official band website: http://www.kanetaylorexplosion.com/K...losion%22.html Last edited by Steamer; 02-12-2009 at 04:38 AM. |

It was at the Ichthus Retraite in Helvoirt, in the Emmaus monastry. Nice place. It wasn't a very big room (fits about 300 people comfortably), but the acoustics were decent - I didn't have to hold back at all. The sound techs did ask me to lay off the rimshots after a practise session though, but that makes sense.

Here are some of the acts we open up for. This is what happens to you when you keep on playing into your 50's. You get to open up for oldies acts. No complaints though. I'm still having fun doing this. I do have some other pics with the Beach Boys and Grand Funk Railroad I will post from my home PC.
They are: The Contours "Do You Love M\e" The Tokens "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" Chubby Checker, looks better than us :-) "The Twist" The Drifters "This Magic Moment" Johnny Rivers "Secret Agent Man" Paul Revere & The Raiders "Kicks" These guys can really play and are hilariors live
