Default The Twist

Who would have guessed???

NEW YORK - How's this for a twist: Of all the No. 1 songs in the 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Chubby Checker's "The Twist" ranks as the most popular single.

Elvis and the Beatles didn't even make the top five.

Checker sounds a little bitter from that article. It's kind of sad to see someone so dependent on commercial recognition.

Ah the memories. I remember in 65' , the same year my parents gave me my first kit, my cousin and I came in second place in a "Twist" contest at our local theatre. I was 10 and she was 15. I was a little chubby checker myself back then, hee, hee, hee. The song was still extremely popular.
