I guess Maradona was hoping to celebrate if they won the real cup. I guess he will have to sell it now.
LMAO another reason why I am happy Argentina lost, even though I detest Germany... Maradona.

4-1, 4-0. What's next for Germany? 4 stars maybe?

I hope Spain doesn't progress further. I can do without more of their 1-0 snorefests. I can't barrack for Uruguay after their dodgy hand of dog save in the last game. Back in the 70s one of their players karate chopped Oz's best striker during a big game and ended his career - I knew doodly squat about soccer but it was big news here at the time. Strange the things we remember ...

I'm going for Germany now, but if not them, then the Netherlands.

Wow did Germany ever destroy Argentina. That second goal where the guy passed it forward while on his rear and facing backwards was great.

Maradona may be the greatest player ever, but doesn't seem to be too good a coach. Did anyone catch how Messi wouldn't hug him back or even look at him after the loss?

I call Germany-Netherlands final. Germany wins it.

So far, stories of that octopus have entertained me more than the football.

Great result for the Netherlands though.....wouldn't have called that one a week or so ago.

Go the Flying Dutchmen!!!

Looking at the video it seems the octopus is drawn to the colour red :)

So Spain will beat the germans tonight, leaving Spain and Holland.

Spain play in red, Holland in Orange, a lighter shade of red,

How will the Octopus work that one out, if spain win tonight, i am going to put a decent bet on who the Octupus says will win the world cup.

B, you and the Octopus!!

Germany looked nervous and were out of their tempo. Spain played their game, short passes and great ball control.

Ah well, I was sure Germany would win this..

Yes, but Holland could only beat Uruguay 3-2 whereas Spain would have totally thrashed them by one goal to nil :)

Well, Spain got beaten by little Switzerland, so I think everything can change from one day to another, and comparing results from different periods of the tournament can lead to misestimations :).

Cold and wet in Melbourne at the mo too Woz, so you'll feel right at home. Although it is winter in the southern hemi, so it's to be expected.

Yeah, come on over. You're welcome to lob here.....just make sure you bring enough beer for the two of us though....oh, and be prepared for a late one.....it'll be showing at some ungodly hour of the morning too. Got enough grog to get us through til about 6am?

Does anyone else think Spain is boring? I read an article where the guy said that all true football lovers enjoy the way they play. Does this mean Spain is playing classical or bebop football, where the experts swoon and the plebs snore?

All I can say is Go Holland!

Well for a fellow who registrated probably after SUFC got banned you're pretty well informed :P!
Anyway, here it's about 34 degrees hot, and I wish it was colder here right now like in England;). But I know, I have to enjoy the beautiful weather and not complain.

Spain and Holland never won the title till now, so we will have a new Worldcup Winner tonight anyway. I love both equally, so i can relax and have a beer.

Spain has the better cards i.m.o. - my prognostic is 2:1 for Spain.

I suspect that this will be a heavy tactical game - so not much action till the first team scores.

Yesterdays match was great - contrary to all fears - really a showdown. Best was the Furlain missile hitting the bar the 91th minute - but well for everybody no prolongation - all players were completely exhausted...

Shame I don't know diddly squat about football and that I don't bet :)

Spain wins 1:0 ... that must really be sending shockwaves throughout the football world! Who'd have thunk it??
