Default Slim Jim Phantom

So i was all set to go to see the stray cats tonight, and i got a message like 15 min before i set off saying it was cancelled. Well i was pretty pissed off but Slim Jim Broke his arm so he cant play so its not really his fault. Went out for a curry instead.

Anybody else like his drumming, or the stray cats in general. He has a unique stage presence.

I've always like Slim Jim there something to say about a drummer who shows up with a cymbal,a bass drum & a snare when every other drummer back then had 100 piece kits. His playing and style are totally cool and he's a great showman also.

As a rockabilly drummer myself, Slim Jim became the defacto standard for all of us who play the style after the revival that took place in the 80's. I love his approach and his energy.

I may not be a great rock drummer (im okay), i have zero double bass skills, but one thing i can say is that I am one of the best rockabilly drummers in Las Vegas. I look up to guys like Slim Jim, DJ Fontana and WS Holland who defined the style.

I actually played a slim jim set up for a whole with a rockabilly band (except i did use hi-hats as well). It was a lot of fun and you learn to get creative when you only have a snare, a kick and a crash-ride.

The first Stray Cats album (vinyl) I bought had to be specially ordered from England to be sent to Canada. That was a loooooooooooong time ago.

Love the Cats and Jims style. I tried to play standing up, almost broke my neck....
Jim is very talanted.

I cant do it either. Its so awkward. I guess you could specifically set everything high so that it would feel more comfortable, but I cant generate enough power to my right foot. Props to Slim Jim though, I love the cats.
