they looked white, which means they were Vic Firth Jazz Brushes. Pretty heavy things, stiff bristles too... They have a lot of projection potential, but I don't care for the hard plastic handles, although I wrapped tape around them enough to make them soft for cymbal effects now. I prefer the Heritage Brushes though
