Default My Frankenstein Set is finally done!

This set has been pieced together over a few months and I probably have less than $200 wrapped up in it. I traded for two different drum sets on Craigslist for some old bass guitar gear I had laying around. I bought the 10" tom off Ebay for $5.60, I bought some new bass drum heads and a few pieces of the hardware. Everything else was salvaged off of the two kits. With this kit done, I still have a 5 piece set up right handed for my daughter to use across the room. I believe one of the kits was a Percussion Plus and the other a Maxwin. The cool thing was they both have the same style lugs. Most of this kit is the Maxwin set that I pulled off all the coverings and just stained the bare shell and then hit it with a quick clear coat. I think it came out pretty good. Notice the bass rims are still the original wine red color. I would like to put wood hoops on the bass soon......

5 1/2" x 14" no-name side snare drum
Acrolite Ludwig 14" snare from 1982
13" Remo picolo snare (not pictured)
22"x14" Bass Drum
6" x 10" tom
10"x12" tom
11"x13" tom
16"x16" Floor tom

14" Sabian Pro hi-hats
14" Zildjian ZBT Plus hi hats (not pictured)
16" Zildjian ZBT Plus Rock Crash
16" Sabian Pro Crash
20" Early 80's Zildjian Medium Thin Crash
20" ZBT Plus Ride
20" Sabian Pro Ride (not Pictured)
14" Paiste 1000 Heavy Hi-hats mounted closed on stand
14" Camber 300 Hi-hats (not pictured)
Paiste 502 10" Splash
Wuhan 18" China
Lp ES-6 cowbell

Comment are welcome.... and I know new skins are needed for the toms soon!

Also, there are about 5 different brands of stands and tom arms on this kit too. For a while I even had a few black Simmons electronic drum tom arms on there....LOL

Wow. Maybe next time you can get a Vintage Ludwig for less than 500 somehow.

If it does the job then cool. Looks like it would sound great.

It really does sound good, but I credit the sound to a fantastic tunning and not the shell materials. I believe almost any kit can sound great with the right heads and a good tune job. Also I believe that some cheap cymbals can still sound good. It's fun to search them out. It's really easy to get a great sounding cymbal for $300, but when you can find one for like $25 and it still sound great.... that's awesome.

I love digging through pawn shops and second hand stores as well as Ebay and Craigslist. You never know what you can find if you know what to look for.
