Default Dethklok - The Dethalbum

I bought this CD on an impulse, after viewing the first season Metalocalypse DVD. I thought it would be funny and amusing.

I didn't expect it to be so good.

Has anyone else here listened to it? I mean, REALLY listened to it?

LOUD?

I picked it up a few weeks after it came out, because I was curious, and was pleasantly suprised! I has steadily grown into my top 5 favorite albums.

I was very impressed with it, I wish metal had always been like this, I no doubt would have liked metal more while I was growing up if more bands were like these guys.

An excellent purchase, and if you have the cash I would try to find the Double Disc on Ebay (they only made a limited # of these.)

Instantly one of the best album purchases I have ever made. Gene Hoglan did his part very well. This is also one of the best Metal albums I've heard in quite a while. And me buyinng this album eventually led to me meeting Gene Hoglan and seeing Dethklok live!

And yes, you have to listen to o this album LOUD. IT just works that way.

Thanks for the confirmation - I guess I'm not alone, or crazy.

I didn't know what to expect when I bought it; I suppose I was thinking it would be an occasional party album like Tenacious D, or whatever. I threw it on and ended up standing there, staring at my stereo with my eyebrows up in the air.

There is some amazing musicianship on that album and it just flat out rocks like hell.

Where have I been?

I dont have it yet but it ll probably be my next new cd. Anyone think that the image of the cartoon band we all know and love makes it more enjoyable? And Dethcake, how was the live show? It sold out here in Philly pretty quickly.

It was only the blackest most brutal thing EVER! But seriously, It was easily best things in my life. It was a multi-media experience, and the crowd was nuts (we were crushing each other before the techs ere finished setting everything up). Denver also sold out, which is awesome. I met Gene an hour before the opening bands at a local Angelo's CDs;

If you're into metal, just buy it. You won't regret it. Like Metalocalypse, it's a larger-than-life parody of everything that Heavy Metal is. Thing is, the Dethalbum is amazing in its own right. Soaring guitars, ass-kicking drumming and brutal vocals. Some of the lyrics are funny, some dark and some thoughtful. Like I said in my first post, it's an album that you will have to listen to LOUD. It is aggressive, powerful stuff. The songs are all full length and there is not one dud on the album.

As for the cartoon band making it more enjoyable, I'd say definitely. The credits on the inside of the cover/booklet name the imaginary band members. It's kind of a mind-trip that they created this whole Dethklok thing; good marketing and just plain fun. The guys on the cartoon are the face of the band, and it's hard to think of it any other way, even though they don't exist.

Gene is definitely one of my biggest inspirations, I love that guy.
Metalocalypse is also sweet, Murderface is sick. That clown freaks me out when I'm stoned though.
