Default Aquarian Performance II Heads

Does anyone use Aquarian Performance II heads? What are your comments on them?

I have one on my floor tom right now...and its OK for larger drums but by no means is it great....its very very very dead and u have to tune it just right to get a good sound out of it...on drums smaller than 14 inch its like hitting a pillow...just a thump with hardly any tone...i would suggest a two ply head...either coated or not over these muffled heads.........and if u want even more dampening get moon gels....im glad i only got one for my floor tom...im switching all my toms to Evans G2 Clear

Well, yeah. Thats what they are designed to sound like. They are meant to be tuned loose. If you like the low sound of the 70's and 80's, these are the heads to use. They are very, very tough. I use them and enjoy them very much.

Performance II™: A clear, two ply head manufactured with Aquarian’s Vacuum Process™ which eliminates air bubbles and wrinkles between the two plies. Remember that big, fat, low tom tom sound you heard on the classic rock and roll records? The sound that you could never get on your own? Now you can! Performance II™ drumheads were designed for “loose” tuning to get the depth and punch with no “over-ring”. This drumhead is sealed around the edge to create that really deep sound on the tom toms.

Performance II™ Texture Coated: A deep sounding two ply head featuring the durable Satin Finish™ texture coating.

Performance II™ with Power Dot™: A clear, two ply drumhead that features our patented Power Dot™ on top for added durability.

Thank you for input. I tried a 12 in power dot and a 16 in power dot today. It took me a while to find the tension that I liked. I settled on 80 on my drum dial. Their much different than anything that I've ever used. I like them. They record really well. They are unforgiving. If you tune them just slightly out of their range they get weird.
