Default Please recommend me a quality THRONE!

I just almost completed my kit (from 3-pc to nice kit)..
one last thing remains.. and that is a quality throne!

I was looking at the Roc N Soc Nitro (black).
any thoughts? Any recommendations or honorable mentions
that are better or cheaper, etc..?

thanks again!

I have that exact throne with the backrest attachment. It's awesome.
The DW 9000 airlift throne with back is equally as good.

I use the Roc n Soc nitro and it's held up to constant moving and gig punishment. I also know that Pork Pie, DW and Tama make some nice, higher quality thrones and stools. Happy hunting.

I use a pork pie throne and its amazing... like 5 inches of cushion.
Its absolutely worth it to spend the money on a high quality throne. A friend of mine has a red roc n soc without the back and its a great throne very comfortable. these quality thrones really help when you are gigging for four hours.

Ive also played with a tama throne. Im not sure which one it was (it had four legs, not three) and it was great. any of these are good choices.

T.Underhill i really like your arnold avatar. what is he holding?

I think he's holding glowsticks. He's raving! You gotta keep your eye on T.Underhill; his avatar changes more often than the Kiss lineup.

As for thrones, the most comfortable feel I have tried is Pork Pie. I just haven't pulled the trigger on getting one yet. And the most telling endorsement for Pork Pie is Gmrakich's thread: you'll notice one consistency through his many setups.http://http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16084

It's RAVING ARNOLD!!!

I wish I had a PP or at least got to try one out. My local store carries the cheap Butt Hammerer 2000 and the Numb Bum models.

My life isn't the same since I've got my Tama 1st chair, wide rider. Splendid piece of equipment that is.

thanks guys! so you do recommend the roc n soc?

PS: while shopping around, what kind of features should I be looking for?
I am buying online, cause there are no really close music stores to me.
so unfortunately it'll be hard to judge their comfort from a picture..
any info to help me go into the right direction is greatly appreciated!!!

I own two Rock n Soc thrones, both with the back rest, one is Nitro and one is not. I love them both but the Nitro is the best out there for comfort in my opinion.

I would also say that the throne is by far the most important piece of gear you own. I don't care how great you kit is, if you butt and back hurt you will not play well.

Do not skimp on the throne

I'm currently using the Pearl D2000BR and it's my favorite so far.

yeah man i love my throne... its zebra top/black sparkle sides. my brother thinks its lame that my throne looks like that but his les paul case is lined with magenta fur... whatev, different strokes for different folks. i think my throne really looks like a throne instead of just a stool.

DUDE. I have a Roc N Soc Nitro throne (black) and I love it. It is solid and comfortable. The adjustment mechanism is like a high quality office chair. Tap a lever and you're up or down.

HOWEVER. I wish I had bought the taller model. I am 6'1" and I need a couple or three more inches on my seat. If you want to buy my throne at a substantial discount, I'll sell it to you and buy the exact same thing in the taller model. It is barely broken in and in perfect condition, mechanically and cosmetically. I've had it for six months.

Wanna talk?

I, too, swear by the roc n' soc, but I have the spiral model not the lever. Less prone to retracting due to forceful playing.

Sit on the throne, pick both legs off the floor an inch or so and see which throne takes the strain off of your back the most.

Count me as another vote for the Roc n Soc Nitro. Very comfortable.

I've owned a Roc n Soc throne for years (I want to say 10, maybe more), and it's still going strong.

Last year, I switched to the Tama Ergo rider throne though.

I really like it, and I bought a second Ergo Rider for my rehearsal kit.
I liked that it went lower than 20" (I set it at 19") and I liked the seats feel.

My R-N-S is used by my nephew now, and if you like the Nitro, I don't think you'd be going wrong with the purchase.
