Default Mapex M-Birch 9 Piece

Extra snare doubles as a timbale

Think I will be done when I finish the swap for Boshorus cymbals

Ah, the ever popular "less is more" attitude. ; ) Specs on cymbals?

Nice kit! I like the finish on the set. Also, trading up from the B8s to the Bosphurus must me a tremendous improvement.

Enjoy, enjoy!

All that and incredible taste, too. You can't drop an awesome setup such as this on the Forum and not give me some specs!

Your set up looks very tight and efficient. Nicely done. Our gear has a lot in common. How do you like your Gibraltar Ultra Adjust Hi Hat stand? I hated mine btw. I hope it fares better for you.

Sorry

The color is Transparent Saphire. All are M-Birch except the 13# snare which is a Pro-M

The set was put together from mostly used stuff so it isn't a matched set exactly
8x8 - tuned higher to match timbale better

13x10
14x12
16x14
13x4.5 - main
14x5.5 - second snare/timbale

Aquarian Response II batter heads on all Toms except 8" which has a single ply. Reso are mixed Aquarian and Remo - will be Aquarian

14" snare has a Super II - will be Response II
13" has a single ply Aquarian

Bass has Aquarian has Super II Kick clear and a Ported

Sabien B8 Pro 18 Med crash - to be Boshorus
Sabian B8 15 crash - to be Boshorus
Boshorus
21" Med Ride
16" Thin Crash

This is actually my second one. Returned the first because it was hard to close the hats. Turns out that's how it is. I need this thing because I am 6'7" and need the offset. Thing is I am not sure how a closed high is supposed to sound. If I rest my foot I get a open chick if I push it is a much tighter one. Is that how all hats are? Plus if I change foot position the hats open up a bit and too easily. Drawback to this model or is it me? I think I would prefer that if my foot is on the pedal midway or more the hats should stay closed.. (Then again how closed?) Said differently it's like the pedal fights me too much - no matter what the setting.

I own a similar set m birch in the same color. But smaller jazz sizes. I had to work a little on the tuning to keep them from being (pointy) How about you? Did you have to play with the tuning?

Roger that. That was exactly my experience as well. The hats never felt secure up top...very sloppy and wobbly. It was only nicely closed when I put some pressure on the pedal. I did find that I loved the positioning it gave me but I never could get over the sloppiness. I then got an Iron Cobra hi hat and haven't looked back!

Really nice and I love your head choice ! Those heads should make your kit sound full and deep. I dig the setup too, look very comfy.
