I know NOTHING about Ludwigs. When I go to look at these drums tomorrow, how can I figure out what series/make/etc they are? As much as I know about drumming, I don't know a ton about construction, etc...I can't just look at a wood and know that it's maple or birch, or crap. If anyone could shed any light on this, I would REALLY appreciate it. Right now, I know they are red drums, 10", 12" and 14" toms, 14" snare, 22" bass. That's all there is to know from her. Oh, just got another call...it also comes with cymbals. 14" hats, 16" crash, 20" ride...but they are Planet Z's, Zildjians beginner line.

Have any pics from the ad? Know how old they are? Take a digital camera with you take some pics, also ask he what the badge numbers are (like serial numbers on the little Ludwig emblems) and you can search Ludwigs website with that number to see what make amd model they are. |

If it's not that far to drive, here's what you do...
Take your camera with you. Examine the kit as if you're not sure about it, even if you're stunned. Take a picture of it and say " I'm not to sure about these, I'm going to show the picture to my buddy who is a drum expert." This is where you show us the pics. Then go back and tell her that they're Ludwigs lower end drums, and they're not worth quite as much as shes asking. It's a bit of a butt head move, but not to often are people selling Ludwig Pearl drums ;) ;) |

Check the badges on the drums. There is the keystone badge what will give you the info the drum was made in the 60's.
Then there is black and olive badge what puts the drums into the 70's and then there is a black and white badge what makes it a Ludwig "rocker" set. If the drums have the keystone or black and olive and the price is good then I would just get them. That's all I know about Ludwig.
