DW 5000 - heel down difficulties??

Hi

I have a DW5000 pedal (old version), and considering a new pedal, but still doubting to buy the same model.

The only thing I have trouble with is when I want to play a double stroke heel down (no heel toe or something) I have difficulties with the second stroke.

Someone have the same problem?

The DW5000 is a great pedal and I don't think your problem comes from the pedal. It will be the same with a new one. I suggest you to work the "heel up" technique that will give you more power on the strokes IMHO.

I have tried these pedals although i don't own them and i think that they are amazing.
i think if you don't like the pedal why don't you just get another one you like more.

adjust the tension or the height of the floor board. cha

I think adjusting the heitht of the floor board will help, but I don't know how...

on the right side of the pedal where the spring is attached to there is a tension thing just loosen it and adjust.

Ah, thanks!! I will see if my model has such thing (it's quite old).....If I can adjust it, It would be great.

It does, I own old and newer 5000 pedals, the design is basically the same on all of them. The newer ones have double chain and a different heel and a ball bearing hing but still it is really the same pedal. In fact it is not much different then the old TAMA / Camco pedal it started life as. Work on adjusting the pedal so it is comfortable then practice,

How old is your pedal?
My pedal has the single chain, I think it's the AX or CX, I don't know, it's with the iron things above the footplate.

So do you like the new ones more than the old ones or not?
I tried some new DW 5000 quite heavy......but I don't know.
I know that is I don't tighten up the spring hard, it is not so flexible.....

What do you think? Also compared to other pedals...I tried a pearl (never liked it before) and I must admit it felt smoother than the DW, but I can be wrong.....
