Default Pork Pie Big Boy round throne

wondering if anyone has one/has used one... im a very large drummer (6'4" almost 300lbs) so my current $60 gibralter special is a bit on the uncomfortable side... they advertise this throne 'for large drummers' so im very intrigued.

anyone have any insight on this specific throne?

i havent tried it but i know what you mean about being uncomfortable wen playing bc of your size. I was 326 at one point. Im down to 242 now. My playing has improved drasticly. I use a tama ergo rider throne and love it

I'm going to get a roc 'n' soc after using one on loan from a mate for a long time. Lovely to sit on and does wonders for your back and posture.

On a personal note, would never buy a pork pie throne because of the pure arrogance of putting on the side of it, "made by an American"

Kind of!?!?

Know other English drummers who say the same so i think it is a very silly marketing move by then.

I have one myself but I am not a "big boy." Got a sweet deal on it and couldn't pass it up, but yeah it is actually a little too big for me. The jury is still out though because I could very well be perfect for it in a few years.

That said, it is also extremely comfortable and the color matches my set very nicely.

Have one...love it. Super comfortable. Holding up well so far. Fantastic, pimpalicious gold flake with tiger-striped top.

Best no-backrest seat I've had. I know I'll eventually want to go back to a backrest-type based on my setup preferences and balance issues when frequently playing couble-bass (both feet heel-up), but I have no qualms about recommending this throne. It is the first round throne I've ever had where I dont think about my comfort or need to shift within a 15-song set.

thanks guys, i personally dont like the back rests on the thrones... so it looks like im gonna get this one.

im in canada so its useless to order it from musicians friend as it will probably be cheaper to go to a store. steves music in toronto can get it for $219, so im gonna get long and mcquade to price match it and finance it.

Agreed, it should read 'Made in the U.S. by an American' but since the base is a Gibraltar and not made in the U.S. its not totally true. It should read 'Profited by an American'.

For the record.

Hey Johnny,
The throne top is made here in the U.S however the throne base is from Taiwan. It's not a Gibraltar. Hope this helps thanks!

It doesn't say "Made by an American' on the stand/base, so technically, Pork isn't lying... they assemble their seat-top in America.

Pork wouldn't buy Gibralatar products, how silly of me to word it that way. It would make more sense for Pork to buy direct from the same factory that makes stands, hardware for Gibraltar and many others, including some well know American drum companies. Pork doesn't own a foundry in Taiwan, neither does DW, or Gretsch etc.

Such controversy over a throne......

I don't own one of these, but I have sat my butt on it, and it's very comfortable, and the seat should be round enough for what you are looking for klopee.

what are yall talking about America is awesome!

i have the zebra/black sparkle pork pie and its great. my band mates think it looks ridiculous but i love it. i figure that when im on my drums, i should do everything i can to take care of my ass and hands. playing for 4 or 5 hours is definitely better with this throne.
