I use Vic Firth 2BNs. They were recommended by my instructor because they are computerized for pitch-paring.

Vic Firth 5BN or 5A, 5AN for me. I have many others in my stick bag that I goof around with though.

Have any of you ever played the Pro Mark Dave Lombardo sticks? They are a surprisingly well balanced sticks for as thick as they are. They dont play like a thick stick.

I tried out the Peter Erskine sticks and I think I've found my perfect stick.

Great cymbal sound, great rebound, great resistance to damage and great weight!

It's been almost 15 years now that I play with the same stick. I love it.

SD10 Swinger (Vic Firth)

I found that my stick needs to be fat enough. A thinner stick forces me to close my hand more which just doesn't feel right.

My favorite stick is the "Shed Session" stick by GospelChops Percussion. It's manufactured by Vater Percussion and it just feels great!

Carter Beauford Pro Mark Sigs
Vic Firth 5A and 5B
Dave Weckl Sigs

*side note* - Using the Dave Weckl and Carter Beauford sticks does not make you sound and play like those guys. ;) Guess I better keep practicing.

Peace.

My favorite sticks are the Ahead Joey Jordison sticks. They are extremely light, very durable, and are extremely fast. I also like the Pro Mark Hickory 707's

i don't know what joey sticks you got, but those are NOT light. i can see using them if you like a huge sound, but... yeah light and fast would not have been on the list of words to describe them.

It's all down to hand span, strength, stamina etc. I'm sure kit set-up plays a part in what sticks you choose..

I don't think they're too heavy. Looking to get my second pair infact (no i didn't manage to snap one aha).

Benn using VicFirth - Steve Gadd sigs in the mean time though!

I agree. First time I saw them I told the guy that the tip was off and he gave me a discount on them!! He didn't know anything about drums.

I just switched brands from Vic Firth to Pro Mark. I really like the PM's a lot. They just seem to hold up better than the VF's.

I remember someone was asking if anyone used Vater Pro Rock. Actually I would have but just that the sticks seem too thin for me.

I used to use Zildjian, then Vic Firth, and now very happy with my Vater Los Angeles 5A sticks. Well balanced, and really durable. I tend to hit very hard. I might try Vater Universal or Vater Excel soon though. Found my favourite brand, but not yet my favourite stick. I kinda like small, but not too thin sticks. For the fast and hard stuff, ya know?

Wow that was exactly me until just recently. Although my main sticks are still the 747's, im branching out to heavier and lighter sticks. But the pro marks are just such perfect sticks. Amazing for rock and funk, also they play just fine for jazz considering the size of them. Extremely versitile.

Has anyone ever noticed this:

I recently compared Vater Fusion's to Vic Firths AS5A (5a w/a round tip) and although the Vater is a bigger stick (thick) ...the Vater is much lighter. Has anyone ever noticed this when comparing Vaters to VFs ? It seems that VFs are a heavier feel...or is it just me?

Anyhow...someone brought this up a while back, but....I received a certificate for a couple free pairs of sticks via Guitar Center...so I grabbed their SoundPercussion 5As ...and WOW....LIGHT.......durable, w/a great feel!

Does anyone know who makes those?!?
