Recently switched from the Vic Firth 5A to the Pro-Mark 718 Acid Jazz. Great stick. A little longer with a short taper for up front power.

i like the Purple Dips because electrical tape sticks really well. no slipping. i wouldn't play untaped Dip sticks though. that's blister city waiting to happen.

I have been using the Vater Manhatten 7A's for a while now but have recently switched to a standard 5A by Vic Firth as I found that the rounded tip on the Vater's would chip away and therefore produce bad tones on the cymbals etc...

Back to using the MikePortnoy signatures. They're quite a bit heavier than the previous pair I had though. Anyone has problems with Pro-Mark weight consistency?

I had Jason Bonham sig sticks and liked them but they broke after one month!!

My Buddy rich sigs are ragged but still going after 6 months....
great sticks, great bounce to 'em. Light....

Vic firth 5a's with vic-grip - hate 'em!!!
Blister city, worst wrist shock of any stick I've tried...
not good action at all..IMO but I got 'em for free so oh well anybody want 'em? heh heh...

I have some vic firth 2b's and while they are big and heavy - I find that it it takes substancially less force to get serious volume/tone with these...the drums just seriously punch with authority without even trying - I've never played hard with these sticks as I fear breaking something!!! they are just plain loud....
And suprisingly,. they have a great bounce and I can get doubles/triples out of them fairly easy....

If you need volume without hitting like a gorilla, VIC FIRTH 2B
If you want finess and speed - Buddy Rich sigs IMO

Vic Firth Jojo Mayer Signature! They're perfect for my playing and style of drumming, although if you get a weird pair they can break really quick, have to buy 2-3 at a time.

Got some new Bopworks sticks after my teacher who is endorsed by them let me try some. I got the West Coast and Mel Lewis models for $8 and $9 each, as well as a Remo practice pad. They had Hornets sticks that felt really good, but not as good as the Mel Lewis, and at almost $14 a pair I couldn't justify it. I started playing a bit, and I instantly noticed how everything sounded better (probably due to the fact that most of my other sticks have chipped tips), and how I felt a lot more in control, even though I had a very awkward lesson today where my teacher told me to change my grip. The West Coast sticks sound better IMO on the ride and such, but the feel of the Mel Lewis sticks is absolutely phenomenal. Now I feel a lot more comfortable. I'm a bit embarrassed, but a week ago I would have argued that sticks don't make much of a difference except for how the tip was shaped. Guess that's why I'm still in the Noobies Union, right? Haha. Also, the sticks in each pair are matched great. It's hard to beat a lot of the smaller companies for quality control!

At the moment for marching snare sticks definately go with the vic firth ralph hardiman white sticks. But for kit playing it all matters what size your drums are. If you have a big John Bonham set (like me) i wouldnt use above a 5b. But for my choice for my set I am in love with the Ludwig 2b wood tip hickory. AWESOME STICKS!!!!!

I have a pair of them too. they work good for just playing the snare for me because i have a big john bonham reissue kit and those sticks are sorta too thin to do the job with those big drums.

Vic Firth Mike Terrana model

Same as the older Dave Weckl model--but not RED.

Very comfy. Nice cymbal articulation. http://www.vicfirth.com/artists/terrana.php

Vic Firth 5B Vic Grip Wood Tip!

After some initial adjustment (i.e. blisters), I now can't live without the wax coating on the grip of these sticks, and it's really alowed me to relax my grip a LOT while retaining all my power. Definitely a huge improvement, and the best solution for grip improvement I've ever tried (unlacquered sticks, drumming gloves, stick tape, tapered grip, etc).

Vic Firth, I salute you!

I love me some Vater Los Angeles 5a's. I use Nylon for durability and I like the sound, but if I ever get famous and sponsored by Vater I'm going to use wood tip.

Played with Vic 5b's the most. Although when I caught a pair of Rick Allen signature Thunder God sticks(the wood version you can't find anymore) from the drummer of NOFX(I was 15, okay) I rather liked the weight of those. I can only find the plastic version now and I would never use plastic however.

Uptil recently I've been using mainly 5AN American Classic's but recently I decided I wanted a lighter stick so I finally decided on a pair of 7A Vater Sweet Maple's with a wood tip and I love them!

I use B-stick 5A's and love them. A friend of mine in the military sent me my first pair while he was stationed overseas. They have a bees wax finish, they feel awesome. I got online the other day to order my 5th pair in 2 years and found they have opened an online store in the U.S. The site is www.b-stickusa.com
Check them out. I'm telling you they are the best sticks I have found.
