In general, I prefer the Vic Firth American Custom SD4 Combo. However, they're pretty light, so I occasionally use the Vic Firth Signature Dave Weckl, which is just a tad heavier.

favorite for drum set: Vic Firth Extreme 5B.
have also tried zildjian super 5B and Vater Power 5B. I like the pitch pairing of firth. Vater is just too inconsistent.

Been playing Pro Mark 7As American Hickory for a couple years. I wanted something lighter than 5B or 5A.

I just started using 2 great Pro-Mark sticks.
The Maple SD9 which is very well balanced.
The Hickory 769...an amazing stick.

If you find the right stick your playing will be SO much smoother and easier...the diddles, flams and rolls almost play themselves.

The Hickory 769 I like when I want to dig in a play hard. I like the SD9 when I want a lighter stick that still fills up my hand

Does anyone use the Ed Thigpen brush model? I was wondering what it felt like. I'm looking for a retractable brush that has a medium-wide spread and thin gauge wire. Thanks!

5A is the size for me. Perfect size and weight for any style I care to play. I have always used Vic Firth wood tip but today my local music shop was out of stock so I bought a pair of Pro-mark Japanese oak size 5A. After a few minutes on the practice pad I can say that they feel nice. A bit different from hickory but I think I like them. I am looking forward to playing them at band practice this evening.

Only Vic Firth 5A. These sticks are the best for me! They are rather heavy to play rock, but I don't lose control because of their weight.

You guys might think I'm crazy, but from my experience, I've played with Vic Firth, Pro-Mark and Vaters all in 5As, but I think the Red Hickory Series 5A is awesome!

Bought a pair of Firth Xtreme 5B today. Haven't tried them on the kit but they felt FANTASTIC on the practice pad. I need the thickness and weight.

As cheap and crap as they are, LA Special 7As. I love the feeling of them. The fact that they just have a bare wood finish is great. Makes them really grippy, and I love the look of them shooting through the air hitting the drum heads. Just looks awesome for some reason =D

Vic Firth 5A
And the Peter Erskine Ride stick

I will soon buy the American Jazz 2 because their tips are somewhere in between the two. I really like how the Peter Erskine Ride stick sounds, but their tip quickly wears out. And I like how the 5A plays for it's power, so I hope to find something in between with the AJ2.

I've been loving these few pairs of Regal Tip 5AX sticks that I've been using - I especially love the finish. But I did just get some Zildjian Mike Mangini sticks today, and man, they feel great. (I like heavy sticks)

I generally use Zildjian hickory wood-tip 5As. I like the sound and I like the nice rounded tips, I have never liked how vic firth sticks have flat ends. I've never been a fan of long sticks, I tend to hold mine a bit up the haft as it is, I've been considering getting shorter ones.

Brushes it has to be Vic Firth Steve Gadd signatures, since I got those I haven't touched another brush.

picked up a pair of Jason Bonham's sig sticks and love 'em!!!!
(promark) I think

they are about 16 1/4 in long and feel almost 2b thick but are light and really nice balance.
I REALLY like the longer stick and they feel substancial in your hand but light and fast too:)

if you like more length but don't want cumbersome feel - these are highly recomended.

I also really like the buddy rich sticks but had to sand all the paint off because you get a LOT of white powder on all your drums after playing a while.....

anyone else end up with a pile of saw dust under your snare from rim shots??
haha - love the sound of a rim shot on a nicely tuned snare:)

Recently was introduced to ProMark Shira Kashi Oak sticks, so I bought some 5Bs and haven't had the chance to judge them yet.

Usually Vic Firth American Classic Hickory 5Bs. They last me forever.

Hornets, 7A, raw sticks. They feel and sound good. I use traditional grip and with other sticks my right hand always works it's way toward the tip and i am constantly adjusting my grip. The Hornets shape helps keep my hands right where I need them to be. I try others but keep coming back to the Hornets.

I have been using the Pro-Mark Japanese White Oak Wood Tipped 7A drumsticks lately. I really like how smooth they feel. I know some drummers prefer a grippier feel to their sticks, but if I ever have a stick that's really grippy (such as the ones dipped in a rubber coating) it just rubs off and is very uncomfortable to use, and if I'm playing fast, my fingers start to hurt.
