I've just switched to Pro-Mark Dom Howard signature, and i like them.
I used to use Pro-Mark 5A's with nylon tips, but i've started getting blisters, and these seem to be making a difference.

I like Steve Gadd sig. sticks by Vic Firth, but I haven't used them in a while. But I like the weight of them. I like the Vator 5a too. I'm using Pro-Mark Japan Oak right now, not bad. So far I like the Vators the most though.

Believe it or not- I found a company called drumbums- that make slightly shorter than usual sticks- wood tip-maple, they are around 5a and I just love them for jazz work. I also use flix sticks a lot often with an orange/black and a regular stick as they sound really nice in blues and rock.

Vader 1A's

I used these because the length is fantastic (slightly longer since i choke up on the stick)

Brick's of these are always availiable but i am thinking of trying to find something with the same length and diameter but slightly lighter.

I was using Promark 747's which had great weight and endurance but were to short for me. (Neil Pert Signature)

Just a little bit thicker that a 5A, with a fatter taper which gives it a nice bounce at the end, with a tip thats great on the ride.

I lke 5B's or the Zildjian Rock. With a touch of arthritis they are easier to hold than smaller sticks.

Vic Firth 5B with wooden tips, hickory, is heavier.

My fav. type of sticks are definetly Zildjian Dipsticks preferably size 7A with a round small tip. I am not a big fan of tear drop tips. I am not exactly sure what bundles are unless you mean Hot Rods which I only like for slow relaxed playing.I really don't know the brand and I like the plastic brushes. I am not big fan of metal brushes.

Default What sticks do you use & why?

I thought this might be a fun thread. All apology's if the subject has already been breached.

I use a Vic Firth X5A to a regular 5A. Probably because I am a Libra, but seriously because I think around a 5A is a great stick for almost any style of music. The X5A is a little longer and I find it fits more solidly in my hands.

A while ago I also have had what i think was the Vic Firth Jack DeJohnette stick which is like a 5A but a little shorter than the X5A. I really liked this stick because it seemed just right for me. But more recently I checked this same stick at the music store and it seemed almost a little heavier than what I had remembered in the ones I had. If anyone knows of a similar stick to the Dejohnette - (16 5/16", Dia. = .565") please tell me.

ok next...whats your stick and why?

I use a variety of sticks but mostly i use Pro-Mark 5A wood round tip...thats the main one i feel them very natural with my playing in every single way, but sometimes i use 7A or 5B depending on what im playing..

vic firth SD2 Bolero's...Can't stand any other stick, and i cant play w/ any other stick too well. 7a's are too thin, 5a's feel too heavy in my hands (bad weight distribution imo), and anything thicker is just too heavy for me. These sticks are thick, extremely light, feel so natural in your hands due to extra thin taper at the tip, and sound reallly really really good on cymbals due to their round tip.

SD2 Boleros! Groceryman! Those were my classical drumming sticks! Love 'em!

For all kit playing, regardless of style, I use the Peter Erskine "Ride" stick (not the crappy round-ball tipped ones...the tear-drop-ish tip). My only complaint on them is that the tips' sides wear down pretty quickly...

At the moment I'm using Promark Oak 2bs. They are very durable. That's the main reason I'm using them.

I use the Peter Erskine 'Ride' sticks for most of my playing too. Great balance and weight; rebounds effortlessly for a larger stick. Cross-stick sounds great too. For the lighter stuff, I use VF AJ6 sticks. Like the PE sticks (as Colonel said), the tips on the AJ6 tips do seem to wear fairly quickly if I'm playing hard, but it's worth it because both stick just sound great on cymbals. The AJ6 sticks are almost like smaller versions of the PE Ride sticks. They both have that exagerrated taper which really helps with the rebound.
