No. Optical illusion. Front head is, batter is clear.

It's a nice kit...doesn't seem all that different from some of the others, though, other than aesthetics.
I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it, right?
On the other hand, you may have a mental illness...

I like pretty colors......
After almost 40 years of playing, I see little reason to change....could be dangerous. I always wanted an orange kit....so.....

Another beauty gmr! I think if I were to buy a new set today, I would give Pork Pie a serious thought. Your tom set-up looks a little different on this one (height-wise). You usually have that Peart set-up where the toms start higher, then lower on descension.

Thats nice, and as for the color, I just bought a huge suitcase that color because I was tired of looking at 200 black ones on the baggage merry-go-round.

Did you actually play with those cooking utensils? Great-lookin' new kit. Drums (and 2oo2s) look beautiful outside in nice weather.

Pork Pie's not quite a Ludwig Vistalite, but I'd call it a respectable kit, personally.

I also love DW's, but unless they're endorsing ya, who has that kinda cash?

Notice both Karen Carpenter AND Keith Moon played Ludwig Vistalites...neither using resonant heads...

Moon played a clear one in the brilliant video, "Classic Rock Drum Solos" with Carmine Appice.

Watch for the goldfish...

and Karen Carpenter is a lot more brilliant a drummer than anyone knew when she was alive...in the first 10 minutes of a great doc called "Remembering the Carpenters" you'll see her play a song I always despised, "Dancing in the Streets."

She plays a great jazz drum part, wearing white go-go boots, AND singing with a Shure 57 (i think) stuck in her face at the same time...

Seems kinda pointless without the bottom heads, tho.

I LIKE loud, myself. 123 decibels, says my Radio Shack db meter (before they started selling junk cell phones recently).

That's louder than the air horn on my Gold Wing by 6db--which is a lot.

"The radio is OFF now..."

I also like the Peart Sabian series. They're almost brassy-looking with a goldish tinge.

They match the orange Vistalites well.

Brighter-sounding than the Zildi's.

Nice contrast to big LOUD drums. If they both sounded heavy and dark; they'd step on each other.

However, don't screw with that "Nev'r dull" type stuff that comes in a can with the cotton you use to elbow the dirt off--use ONLY Sabian spray cleaner on the signatures--I had a REAL hard time getting that other metal cleaner off; it leaves a blackish tinge to the Sabian Peart signatures.

I almost had a coronary.

Another bright-sounding cymbal are the Paistes (pron. "pies-tee"--a writer from DRUM magazine told me that; til then I always said "pays-tee.")

I use an 8 splash for the annoying hand clap FX of the 80's, ie. Steve Perry's "Oh, Sherrie."

I was a singer first, and Perry's still the hardest to sing.

My goal in life is to rig these suckers so they light up different colors for different hits.

I like Eliminator pedals, but right now I have to make them tighter so they move faster.

Anything's better than those horrendous Speed Kings, tho. I don't know how Bonham did it.

Yea, seriously...wow. Are you ok? The forum has a bunch of topics so you can discuss each of these items in greater detail. Plus, I wouldn't have such a headache right now. Also, please never buy cymbals based upon how well the color matches your drums. Please.

Those are some sirious drum sticks you got there. A meat tenderizer (or in this case, a drum head terrorizer, lol) and a ladel.

Anyway, beautiful kit!

It looks like there's a neat hole to allow the beater to miss the head completely! What a wonderfully perverse idea.

Thanks. I built a 20x24 garage (climate controlled) to keep the drums in now. I keep one kit inside now to noodle on and my Tic Tac looking truck and my drums share the new garage.

You don't know how right you are. I have a frozen right shoulder and my arm will not move enough to hit anything smaller. I have had to get away from using two floors for the most part as well due to limited motion.
