Default Remo Practice Pad - Loud?

Has any of you guys got the Remo Practice Pad? I was checking some Vids on Youtube and it seemed pretty loud, will it be louder than hitting, say, a desk with sticks?

yes it is pretty loud. I own one and my girlfriend is not very pleased with it :D
the feeling of it is pretty good though and the rim helps working on rim shots (the sound then is really loud).
Of course it's quieter than a snare. but I'd say if you're a heavy hitter, it is definitly louder than hitting a desk. but i depends on how you hit the desk and how you hit your pad.

It's definitely the biggest drawback about this pad. apart from this I really like working on it.

The Remo pads that have the head and rim configuration are loud but they are great of you are looking for something that feels like a drum. I would get a gum rubber one like a real feel or something like it it you are looking for quiet.

Thanks. I don't need quiet at home, but I was looking for a pad too take everywhere I go, and It wouldn't be very good if I make a hell of a noise at the airport or such...

But I'm trying to get a internet order done (I live in the middle of nowhere) and the shop which I'm considering only has this pad, then another shop has other pads but no good deal on sticks and stupid payment options, etc. Damn this country.

I have a Remo pad & it's pretty dang loud. To me it's the same loud as hitting on a desk, just a diff sound. Instead of a high pitch, it's a lower pitched thud. My fiance' thinks it's about as loud as if I were really playing if I'm chopping pretty hard.

Mine is loud as well, so I also have a gum rubber pad for quieter practice.

i would never suggest buying one of those things! they sound and feel terrible it's like hitting cardboard.. it's like the "head" gives when you hit them... they suck to say the least.. and they're not even quiet..

remo practice pad=pointless<crappy!
