Default MD Fest 08 New Lineup!

Just thought I'd share this for those interested.....

http://www.moderndrummer.com/viewfullnews/300001243

Thomas Pridgen (Mars Volta)
Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jackson/Santana)
Simon Philips (Toto/the Who/Jeff Beck)
Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree)
Todd Sucherman (Styx)
Dafnis Prieto (Michel Camillo)
Derek Roddy (Serpents Rise)

Should be sweet....pretty cool that Gavin and Derek are forum members.....
Really looking forward to Todd Sucherman....very under-rated player IMO.....

Hope they make a DVD....

The dark horse who blows like monster in this line-up, is N'dugu Chancelor. He's not as big a celebrity as the other names here , but he a guaranteed 'jaw dropper'.

thanks for the update. I thought it was canceled due to lack of venue, but I see they were able to relocate it with a great cast.

Does anyone know if this festival is in the Manhatten area of NY? I would really love to go but don't want to travel deep into the state of NY...anywhere outside Manhatten is extremely dangerous.

That looks like a very cool set up!
Finally Simon Phillips is also playing there. He is incredible, I`m looking forward to see the DVD around!

Though I wish Brian Blade or Ari Hoenig would play there one day, too.

Ndugu is long overdue!... he has sort of fallen out of the limelight a bit but he's played with the who's who of the greats...

Dafnis is truly amazing... it'll be great, having seen him I'm sure he'll cause the same shockwaves as Antonio Sanchez did a couple of years back at that event.

It's sweet that Gavin Harrison is getting more attention upon the drumming press. Im really excited to hear him at MD fest. IMO, he is the best prog drummer. Reminds a lot of Steve Gadd and Joe Morello.

Yes, sounds like a great lineup so far..I think I will be attending. Seeing Dafnis and Ndugu will be great..

I agree, if they could swing getting Pat Petrillo, that would be way cool. He would throw down, and teach us something at the same time! Sometimes these Festivals are all "blow" and no "show"..We know Pat can do it all.

AND congrats to Gavin and Derek, they both deserve to be in as well!!

I think you're right about Billy Ward.

He'll be a great addition. The show looks really balanced this year--metal, latin jazz, prog. Wish I could go!
