Default Opinions Wanted on Best Electronic Kit with Best Feel??

So I'm going nuts without a drum kit. I've been looking for a convenient place to store an acoustic kit near my new apartment (I'm in Hillsboro OR), but can't find anything I like. So I've decided to forgo getting an acoustic kit and will get an electronic kit.

I've played on some expensive $1500 - $2000 Roland kits that were nice. Thing is, I don't really care about the "brain" of the whole thing and how many presets they are. All I care about is a nice, compact e-kit with good response and feel like an acoustic kit would get. I think the cymbals will be the worst in terms of feel no matter what kit I get, but I'd hoping to at least kind of use my own metal hi-hats (hi-hats won't make that much noise compared to the other drum pieces being "real").

So can anyone recommend a brand/model that in there opinion best mimics the kind of "feel" from an acoustic kit? Any comments MUCH appreciated... I can only do rudiments on my practice pad for so long... thanks!

Take a look at the Roland TD-12. I'm not far from getting one, myself. Everything I've read about them has been very positive, especially in the context of how similar they feel to a real kit. It's basically the TD-20 (argued to be the best feeling kit on the market) but with a smaller footprint.

Yes the TD12 is a great kit. But do yourself a favour and change the Roland heads to Hart. The response is much closer to real heads. You will not regret it.

The trick is not to tune the mesh heads to tight, then they feel like a tennis racket. I have a TD-20 kit. I loosened up the heads a little and it feels great. I really do not notice it at all switching between my Roland and acoustic kits anymore.
