Man...
I love the look of the kit, I love black nickel hardware, and I love the idea of the cradle (I'll put one on some set in the future, probably).

So I have a feeling I'll like this when it's all put together :)

What an outstanding choice in my opinion. We seem to have a similar taste in colours, drum sizes...and music. haha =)
If I had a custom kit, I`d take those lugs, too.

What do you think about brass coloured hardware?

Like with Rob`s I`m super excited to see the final product.

This set is so nice man. You should definately give it to me.

You should have gone with free floating lugs for all the drums, never drilled once. ha

Well on some kits I like brass.
I chose black nickel because I wanted the lugs to blend in with the color so they don't stick out so much.

At first I had chosen tube lugs but François showed me these and I'm very glad he did because they look nicer... and have inserts...

The kit should be done soon, only the bass drum hoops are missing.

Désolé Étienne pour ce delai, il semble que le vieil adage "Tout vient à point à qui sait attendre" s'applique dans ce cas ci.

Can't wait to see and HEAR the finished product. I love the black nickel choice for hardware and the burst on the drums is awesome. I've never seen a 'cradle' for a floor tom like that either.

Once you get those babies tuned up please post some audio so that we can all share your new drums!

Grant

WOW

The bass is so resonant and low, "ouuuuummmmmmmphhhh" its 1312982 times lower than my 22" export, I had to tune it up a bit because everything in my room was buzzing and shaking.
Toms sound great too, !

Snare should arrive in a week or so.

Crappy pics for now... il take better ones when the snare will be here

oh and the bass heads will be changed to fiberskyn powerstroke/ fiberskyn ambassador in a couple of days.

Wowee, that's one nice kit! I assume the snare is matching?

The extra resonance and volume is very characteristic of whole wood and stave construction. With minimal processing and foreign materials, the true wood character shines through.

Holy holy...I don`t know.

I`ve seen many beautiful finishes and much beautiful hardware. I`ve seen many kits in these beautiful "Bop" sizes.
But I`ve hardly seen all that combined within one set of drums!

That`s one definitly. It`s incredible...I`m so excited to hear it!!
I love it as well as Rob`s!

Me want, me want, me want, me want,!!!!!! Beautiful kit man. May I ask why you chose Unix and not Artisan or another stave maker. I have been considering a stave kit and just want to know what led you to Unix. What a minute. Actually I was just hired as quality control for Unix. Yeah that's the ticket. I note in the pictures a small defect. I will have to confiscate this kit for repair. It shouldn't take long-perhaps a year or two. We will need an electron microscope to see the defect so it may take a while to find it. I'll pay for shipping. Hee,hee, hee.

My guess is that Unix posts here, he shares his drum porn stash with us, he answers our questions and he is one of us. He is the only stave maker doing that on a regular basis so I think that has something to do with why so many people here buy from him.

I would also add that; if you scan through the ghostnote forums, which hosts a load of custom drum builders, they almost unanimously stump for Francois over any other stave builder. He's earned a reputation for a reason, he does the best work and the prices are competitive.

That`s surely a great opportunity for you!
Which cymbals did you choose? Some Bosphorus pies?

Btw, I`m really looking forward to hearing your playing and the sound of the kit!! Play what you feel...maybe with some backing music?

I'm really looking forward to hearing a sound clip. The one on the UNIX web page nearly convinced me to rob a bank so I could order a whole set of these gorgeous drums... but another sound clip would be good to hear. If I can save up enough (really cheap prices, though! A full kit would cost half of what I paid for my Sonor), I'm definitely buying a stave kit for studio recording, etc. And for the occaisional gig to drop jaws when drummers are present.
