Hi All,

Long time looker, first time poster.

This is such a great environment for all us drummers! There is great communication and knowledge on this forum and I am pleased to be a part of it. I want to thank everyone here for sharing all of their experiences!

I've attached some pics of my recent setup, hope you all enjoy.

Awesome kit. Love the set-up and finish. Looks very comfortable... what kind of side snare is that? Looks amazing!
How do you like the mounted floor toms? Personally I find it a little harder to adjust when playing but never played on Dw's before.

It's a Ludwig hammered brass 14*6, nice sounding drum!

I agree on the mounted floor toms, but I rarely move them so it doesnt present a problem.

The one front center is an 18" China Trash and the one above the floor tom is a 22" classic.

That is a Sabian Radia gong, a Bozzio item, its pretty funky, fun for riding, spiking or roaring with mallets.

Its a loud dark clang. It doesnt build up much wash and is not sensitive like a normal gong. I mostly use it for accents or ride patterns. It only builds up with large mallets.

Awesome kit and setup!! What year were those Dubs born? You don't see newer ones with RIMS mounts. I know Mendozart has a 1989 kit and I have a 1994 kit. The older they get the better the sound!!

I've had them about 12 years, 1995 I believe. Right after I bought them they changed the rims and came out with the clear wood satin and brass hardware, which I really liked. Looking back I am pleased with my choice. Brass hardware on drums is tough because usually the rest of the hardware is chrome.

Gray slate. Unfortunatly DW discontinued it. I was looking at a woofer for the bass drum but the finish is no longer available :-(

I often play with only mallets. The cymbals I have work well to this effect and so do the drums.

That's a great lookin' kit ya have there, love the finish. Is it a wrap or lacquer?

The timpani is just over the top...what a great addition to your setup!

Very nice. Do you gig much with this set? I can imagine lugging that timpani around would be much, but I love it. Have you ever thought of using some dogbones or clamps to eliminate some stands? It's hard to count them , but it looks like you have at least 7 just on your right hand side. BTW, nice selection of cymbals.

True. I wanted that 24Z since I was about 10. I finally found one on ebay and could afford it now. Its mostly nostalgic, but I started out as a metal player so once in a while it gets some action :-)

I have two four piece sets that I take when I play out, which isnt too often anymore. These days drumming is more of a hobby for me, or having friends over to jam since I have the space.

I have two rack segments but they arent setup since they seemed less flexible to me. I dont change things around very often, there is plenty of space and I dont move them so the stands arent an issue. I agree some dog bones would look cleaner, though these stands are solid and I'd rather invest in cymbals :-) I have a small thing for rides...

Ah that explains it. I mean, I took you for a man of more distinguished taste in cymbals. None of those pies leaning on the wall are paistes, are they?

I own one Paiste, had it for almost 20 years, a 22" RUDE Ride/Crash. I use it on one of my other sets. Its not a great cymbal, but quite playable and has some dynamics. Against the wall are a few more K rides, some UFIP's, misc hats, crashes and chinas, some splashes, bells and gongs.

I've gone through a bunch of phases, or evolutions, in my playing so I've accumulated some different things. I love the dynamics of a good ride though. I'd like to try out some of these Agop's I keep hearing about, but no place around me stocks them, or if they do, they only have a few general models.

Great looking kit dude! Just one thing, why are your chinas are upside down? I thought the bell should be in the bottom part? Anyways, nice selection of cymbals dude and I really like the color of your kit!

I use the chinas as ride cymbals, they are both 22". In this position you have access to the bell, bow and the edge for crashing or maintaining a wash.

^^^^Yeah. In fact jkosh1's chinas are right-side up! Yours are upside-down.
