So i am a completely self taught drummer of one year but i have made in that year the progress some drummers make in 3 years which i am very proud of....i understand reading i have good solid timing...i practice my rudiments every day and apply them to the kit for both the hands and feet....i practice with all of my favorite songs....ive starting taking up jazz and funk...and thats just some of what ive gotten into...luckily im only 15 and music is what i do anytime im not with my friends so i practice ALOT...but anyway heres an idea for you self taught drummers who who sometimes get stuck on what to learn..first u need to know and practice all of your rudiments on the pad with a metronome and u need to understand time signatures and how to read percussion....then from there heres a little secret YOUTUBE AND YOUR BOOKMARKS....if theres something u want to learn simply make a folder in your bookmarks search it on youtube and save the links to all the vids u find...organizing it as you go...ull be surprised at the end of an hour how much u have to work with and learn....im sure some of you already do this and maybe this thread was a waste...but hey i figured i should share what has worked for me with all of you...let me know if this was worth posting or not...thanx
