It's for sale in a local retail store and has been rented out for a few hours - it's in excellent condition - like new. I'm wondering if $480 CDN is a good price. I like the finish ! It's a DW 14X5 Collector's Series Snare.

480 on ANY used snare drum is a little steep, maybe not on a praetorian. It may be worth 480, but having the used title I think you could offer them 400 or 350

At $400, your looking at the high end of the scale. Cats are trying to sell DW snares at $400 to $499 on eBay, and no one's buying 'em.

Hi Harry.
Ya - I will definately be talking to the drum-sales guy on Monday regarding this. I liked the drum so much (but I didn't need another drum - that's what we all say) that I put it on lay-away on the condition I talk to the department head in the coming week. I didn't know how much it was worth and because I liked it so much I didn't want someone to buy it before I had a chance to really check it out. Thanks,

I sold mine with a natural finish with same specs and size for $325 recently.
Remember CAD is same as USD now so if you think about it's quite expensive. but good luck with your purchase! |

I agree with the others. Nice drum to be sure. In US dollars $300.00 - $350.00 would be about right.

My retailer drum guy will not go lower than $450. Ya - I feel a little like I'm not getting a good deal here, but I'm going ahead and buying it anyway. It's a nice drum, reinforcement rings and all. I wasn't even looking to buy a drum but I watched some DW drum building videos just a day before I was in the store, that, and the fact that the drum finish caught my eye just sucked me right in to the "gota-have-a-DW drum" place. I'm a real sucker I guess...........................
He said he'd throw a new head on the drum - it was used for a few hours in a local studio.

I remember looking for a matching 8" tom on eaby. Over a year went by brfore one came up. It had a buy it now price of $400.00. More than I wanted to pay, but there it was. I bought the thing and have no regrets. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.

I finally did buy this drum today even though the retailer wouldn't go below $449 - I'm happy with that. It sounds great and looks good too - nice and sparkley........
It had been played on a little so the retailer gave me a new Evans G1 Coated. The DW head on it sounds fine for now. It has a different sound for sure than my Gretsch African Mahogany - not better in my opinion - just dfferent, and I like that. It has a "bigger" sound from what I can tell so far. Brushes sound good on it too........... Black Oyster Glass finish Pix..........
