WOW! What a find!
A proud Premier Signia owner here. I'll make sure I post a pic of my kit the next time I'm near my pics folder. I question for people in here. Has anyone had any luck getting replacement parts for their Signia's? After almost 16 years of constant use, my Signia tension mounts are breaking. One on my 22" bass drum, one on my 10" tom, and two on my 14"x6.5" snare. YIKES!!!! So far, I've been able to make due, but the one that just broke on my bass drum is crucial and I need to replace the whole tube mount. I thought that I had gotten lucky and found an ebay listing of my exact color of my bass drum, but then the auction was taken down and the guy wanted to sell his whole kit. Anyone have any ideas for Signia parts? |

That would have to mean that the factory would get back to me. I've sent an email to no avail. There's no US distributor at this point. Should I just call?

if anyone needs parts for Signia you won't get them from Premier BUT .... I have quite a good stock right now. Premier no longer carries ANY parts for older Series drums including Signia & Genista. I already posted these, but, hey, since there's a dedicated Premier thread...
Originally, this is a 7-piece Projector Series kit that I bought brand new in 1989. I can get two kits out of it when the mood strikes. These are the classic, awesome 3-ply birch with beech re-ring shells along with the long Art Deco lugs. This was one of the final years that they used the classic Premier lugs. Yamaha had just bought out Premier at the time, so there were a lot of changes right after this kit came out. Premier was bought back from Yamaha in the mid/late 90's and became it's own company again. I throw hoops on the 18" floor tom as the basis of FT/BD conversion kit. I fold down the FT legs, so I get BD spurs without the need for any drilling. 10(x9), 13(x11), 18(x16), 13x6.5 Yamaha Musashi Oak, Gibraltar flat-based hardware 15" 2002 Sound Edge Hats with 18", 20", 24" Paiste Giant Beats ![]() ![]() Here's the rest of the kit in situ at our practice space. 12(x10), 16(x15), 22(x16), 14x5 '76 Ludwig Supraphonic 15" Paiste/Ludwig Hats (early 60's, nickel-silver), 18" K Zildjian Med. Thin Crash, 16" Sabian Thin Crash (80's block letter ink), 21" Sabian HH Vintage Ride The original hardware is a strange hybrid of classic Premier details (tilters, wingnuts and tighteners) on top of, I believe, the standard double braced Yahama hardware of the time. Those collars on the stand segments are straight up Yamaha, but everything is marked "Premier", though. The kick drum pedal and hi-hat stand footboard are also obviously Yamaha, but they're still molded and stamped "Premier Made in England". ![]() - Last edited by 500 Kicks, No Pedal; 04-25-2009 at 03:48 AM. Guys, great to see all these "P" kits, I remember looking thru a Premier catalog many years ago & thinking how I'd never be able to afford one of those... I went for Tama as soon as a got my first job tho, but it still makes me really sad that the last UK drum maker now uses its jigs to produce satellite dishes.... As soon as i heard that Premier UK had gone to the wall I rushed out & purchased a modern classic craviotto snare for posterity. Had to have something from the "old empire!"
Keep em rocking guys!

Hi, new to the site. Here is my 74 Premier. Picked it up from an older gentleman, with 2 mounted toms 13 and 14, 16 floor tom, 22 bass, 14 snare, vintage 21 Zildjian medium ride, vintage 14 Zildjian hi-hats, Throne, Stands, and Tama single kick for $75 Canadian. At the time I didn't realize Premier was a good brand and wrote it off as being something you could pick up at Kmart...Since then I have made a few additions, Rack, Cymbals, Rayzorback Custom Snare, and Vex Double Kick. I just yesterday got a 12 tom that needs some major restoration..should be fun!

...at last.
These were at Daves Drum shop in Ottawa, and I had been eyeing them for a couple of months. I have seen a few of these older seventies kits and I have always had a soft spot for them. This was an impulse buy that took about four months to complete. Specs for this kit are as follows. 22x14 bass fibreskyn PS3 and ambo. 16x16 floor tom coated emporor batter, clear ambo res. 14x10, and 13x9" rack toms, coated emp over clear ambo. This kit is in great shape for the price, but it does need a few parts, and the wrap on the underside of the bass drum is split cracked and peeling in some places. These just came in yestarday, so all I have had time for was the hurry up tweaking. As for the set up, I am going with the 22, 16, 14, plus a DW 13x5" snare, 20" legacy ride, 16" HHXtreme crash, and 14" Manhattan jazz hats. This is a really cool little kit, and I am looking forward to spending a little more time with them. Barry

Hi,
Here are a Monster Signia Marquis kit, the same in a smaller configuration and a mini Genista kit... Oh, I have to say that one bass drum is 18 inches deep (right foot), the other is 16 !! So if you know another natural maple 18 deep, let me know, I'll pay the price (if it's not natural maple OK, but won't pay the same price ;-) !!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() @+ K |

Here's most of my Signia stuff. I have another bass drum that's not pictured. Most was bought new when I was poor back in the mid 90s. I paid $2810 (loan) from Suncoast Music for a double kick set with DW5000 pedals and ended up getting another kick for the same price.
(3) 22x18 bass drums (1) 14x5.5 snare (or is it a 5"?) (1) 14x7 snare (or is it a 7.5"?) toms in 16, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 in Cherry Stain plus a blue 8 I bought until I found a Cherry 8". I just bought one off of ebay with some missing parts. EDIT: I need to do some cleaning. Whew, I didn't know some of those were so dirty. Here's the same drum cleaned up. Once a year I used to take them all apart and wash them with diaper cloth, then wax them. I haven't done that in about 4 yrs. Last edited by signut; 09-26-2009 at 03:34 AM. |

Hi, my first post here, i'm from Argentina and this is my new ARTIST BIRCH. It's a very strange case, this colour is not in catalogs and doesn't have rims, the hardware is exactly the same from xpk but is an Artist...if somebody knows why this kit is so weirdplease tell me. I guess is from 1996-1997, but i bought it brand new 2 month ago, incredible. I almost forget, the snare is a PORK PIE Pig Lite 14" * 7".
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cymbals are: HH AA Metal-X 14", Crash AAX Stage 16", Ride B8Pro Medium, China 18" hand made by me, and 18" Stagg crash. |

Hey folks,
first post here - nic looking forum, and some lovely looking Leicester based drum porn:-) Here's my current Signia: ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a 22, 10, 12, 14, 15 with a 5 inch snare. The cymbal set up has changed a little : the Pro crash has been replaced by a Zildjian A Custom 19 Projection crash and the B8 14 incher by an AAX 14 crash. Most of the the hardware came from Gary Husband, when I bought his little yellow DW a couple of years ago - he gave me an amazing deal on the kit with a truckload of DW hardware and the Tama Hi Hat. The drums themselves were another bargain found via the classifieds on Mike Dolbear. If anyone knows where I can gat a matching 8 inch tom, I will be forever grateful! I love these drums, best sounding drums I have ever had. The first time I played a Signia (when I had my first one, ten years ago) I was aastonished not just by the sound, but by the fact that to me they FELT different to play. ( I had been used to APK type kits up until then) And if anyone is inerested the Yamaha kit is an 8000 Series, and though it's a bit beaten up, it sounds great. Anyway, nice to be here folks, love some of your setups here:-) Last edited by Stuflyer; 10-20-2009 at 07:55 AM. Reason: to add info on yammy |

Your kit is an artist from 99+... in 96-97 the xpk line still was in the market till 98 with the astria, vitria variations. And about the rims, it s a UK market artist, as premier often sold to the latin american market. Look what I found in my storage room! I bought this new in Jan of '94 for $545. I played it for maybe 2 yrs before I washed it with car wash soap and a diaper soft cloth. I waxed it, metal polished the hardware and then packed it away in it's original packaging until a week ago. I just decided to take it out for a check up. It was like opening a time capsule after 13 yrs, and it looks like the day I put it away. I never wiped my drums with anything but a feather duster back then until washed/waxed once a yr. the packing label is there--says 2-21-94.
Thinking about ebaying this one since I've two others just like it from the same year. I wonder if it would sell better with other drums or as a solo? |

It's definatley a nice little set-up to play, I'm a great believer in configuring the Drum-Set as per the Music I'm going to be playing so I don't tend to stick with just one soild set-up for everything. Alternative Rock set-up: Prog set-up: ![]() ![]() What I tend to do during the first Rehersal with a new Band is set-up with everything I have and play through the Songs etc. During the Rehersal it becomes clear which pieces of the Kit I'm not using so I simply subtract them and then re-position everything, resulting in a nice clean set-up with everything I need to use and where I need it. Hope that was informative! and kindest regards, Kev p.s for anyone wanting specs for the two exmaples: Set-up A: - 1980's Premier Club Kit (3ply shells with 2ply re-rings) 12"x7&3/4" Rack Tom,13"x8&3/4" Rack Tom, 16"x14" Floor Tom - Premier 1980's 14"x4.5" Steel Snare (deep-drawn as opposed to a sheet curved and joined) - Zildjian 19" Avedis Rock Crash" - Sabian B8's Hats (modified) - Sabian B8 Pro Medium-Ride - Sabian Signature 11" Max Splash - Sabian XS20 18" Chinese - Hardware; Big Dog and Gibraltar - Heads; Remo Set-up B: - 1980's Premier Club Kit (3ply shells with 2ply re-rings) 12"x7&3/4" Rack Tom,13"x8&3/4" Rack Tom, 16"x14" Floor Tom - Premier 1980's 14"x4.5" Steel Snare - Sabian B8's Hats (modified) - Sabian B8 Pro Medium-Ride - Sabian B8 19" Rock-Crash - Sabian Signature 7" Max Splash - Sabian Signature 11" Max Splash - Sabian B8 10" Splash converted to a Ozone type Oriental-Splash - Sabian XS20 18" Chinese - Hardware; Big Dog and Gibraltar - Heads; Remo |

I'm new here...
I have a Premier Genista in Cobalt Blue(is it rare color?) 8x7 10x8 12x9 14x12 16x14 22x18 and 14x7 snare (my baby). It was a Virgil Donati clinic kit in '99. Also, I'm looking for more info on a kit that I saw posted on the first page that I also own. It's a Signia 75th limited #34. I picked it up used, mint, but it has no hardware or snare. Just kick and toms. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! I'll post pics soon.... |

Great info Kevin :-) Thanks.
I have thought about rearranging my kit like that to suit the music I am playing, but I haven't tried it yet. It's interesting that for some people there's no real lead hand. Ringo was a left hander on a right handed kit too I believe - as am I, but I tend to lead with the right: I just learned that way to make it easier to play other peoples kits. |

Hi. I found this thread by accident so thought I'd pop in and say hi.
This is my very yellow Resonator. some people love it, some people hate it. I love it - its grows on you after a while. sizes pictured - 22/12/16. The 13" tom is rarely used, so its up in the attic. I love premier gear, and also have a small collection of premier marching drums also, from royal scots, super royal scot, HTS700, premier lite etc. and a 16" tenor. http://www.flickr.com/photos/2410795...7604051407833/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/2410795...7604051407833/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/2410795...7604051407833/ The SRS and resonator snare: http://www.flickr.com/photos/2410795...7604051407833/ AKx |
