the mic on the Rogers sounds 'overloaded' or something like that, I don't think it sounds totally clean to me.

The Ludwig sounds enormously sexy, really how I like a non-wood snare to sound :-).

I think I like the Ludwig most. The Rogers sounds like a higher tuned sibling with less body to my ears.

My recording equipment is not so great and the line in level is set too high.

i have a hammered bronze Ludwig snare that i want to replace the hoops on. it came with these super heavy duty die-cast hoops that just make it sound WAY to boxy. i'm going to put regular triple flanged hoops on it one of these days. that should brighten up the sound i'm sure.
