Thanks!

Karl's kit sold me on the red sparkle. Would a third floor tom be too much? :P

Wouldn't hurt, but if you really want to "Karl-ify" that kit, you need a gong!! :-)

To EllenVannin - loving the new club dates from GC. Can you elaborate a bit as to how you think they sound, play? I'm/we're curious. Thanks!

I envy you all. All the kits are great. Here in Mexico there's only one music store that sells Ludwig Drums: Veerkamp. But the prices are too expensive for me U.U
But one day I'll have my own Ludwig :P

The Ludwig Classic Maple "white marine pearl" evolution.

20" x 16", 12" x 8", 14" x 14" and aTama maple Artwood snare.

added to the above, 13" x 9", 16" x 16" and a Ludwig Classic Maple snare.

One more addition, a 10" x 7" rack tom.

I'm still missing the additional 22" x 16" bass drum which will be ordered soon. And no, I've never gigged with all seven pieces at the same time, it's usually just five. This just gives me a matching shell pack from which I can pick and choose to match any specific venue. It works out really well and after five, ten or twenty years when the finishes start to age, all the shells should still match one another.

I'm now using Evans G1 coated over G1 clear heads on the toms.

This is fun for me, because I took an almost identical approach with my WMP Classic Maples. I have two kicks, 14x18 and 22x16, 14x14 and 16x16 floor toms and 9x13 and 8x12 rack toms. And I only play four drums at a time, so I've never actually set up all of them at once. Thanks for the picture so I now know exactly how mine would look!

finally got rid of the DW Classic Series Kit...Went with the Ludwig Classic Maples. Here is what they look like. They sound great, and I think they look sharp.

Sorry to tell you , but this snare would be from earliest 1981 when they moved to Monroe South Carolina. Didn't mean to burst your balloon. You may also want to check the number of plies again it is probably a 6 ply shell.

My centennial kit, still waiting for my 18" floor tom to arrive but I've been told it will be Monday.

Coated emperors on top and clear ambassadors on the bottoms, 12 and 16 toms, 13 snare and 20 x 20 bass.

Sabian X20's plus a Sabian AAX 18"crash to go with the X20 18"crash.

DW 5000 pedal, LP rock ridge rider cowbell.

Ludwig and DW hardware all round. I always play the tom on a snare stand and I've taken the brace of the top tom this time around as well.

It's got some kick to it, I like it anyway and if you're happy with your kit who cares what others think hey?

Just picked up this kit the other day. This is my first Ludwig after owning nearly a dozen kits, and this one is a keeper. I'd have no problem playing just Ludwig's...

Ludwig Classic Maple Drums (WMP): 9x13, 16x16, 16x22.
5x14 Supraphonic.

Emperor's on toms, Ambassador on snare.

Hear them below!

I just now realized that I never put my 2012 Club Date in this thread.
This kit is comfy and cozy to me.
I know that I am in my home stadium when I play this kit.
I reminds me of my 60's Slingerland kit morph'd with my mid 70's Gretsch kit. :)

Hey - I have proof that I've played Ludwigs!

These are from 1978 - solid black Vistalites. 14x22 bass drum, 9x13 tom on a stand, 16x16 floor tom, and an Blackrolite snare. I think I had white heads on both top and bottom so everyone thought they were woody maple Ludwigs, people kept telling me they were the warmest drums they've ever heard - it might've been 'cause they were slightly out-of-round ;)

My umbrella stand here is a Drum Workshop 5000 series boom - it was heavy enough to resist the winds!

I think I can make good use of these pics: On this thread, two offset left, etc.

Anyway, here are my '76 Vistalites. One of the funnest [??] things about this kit is having drummers over and watching them scrunch up their faces at the bad tuning then having them spend an hour before they throw up their hands and declare them un-tunable...Uneven seams, horrible bearing edges that are sometimes offset, and general out of roundness seem to have not concerned Ludwig back in the day...

I received the kit with the 12" tom split open like a coconut. I did a bunch of research and started off by repairing that shell with acrylic glue. But the seams, bearing edges etc. on these vintage acrylics are HORRIBLE! so I'm working my way through the kit fixing things up, starting with the broken tom as a guinea pig. The seam are sort of flat, the bearing edges non-existant [still showing marks from the band saw] so I used some of the 'thick' acrylic glue to filet the seam to make it a smoother transition, sanded the flat bearing edges really flat, then put a 45* bearing edge on it with a router. Suddenly, the drum tunes! I just did the same thing with the 13" tom and as time permits I'm going to go through the entire kit. Maybe that will entice me to drag out the Vista snare which sounds like poop.....

This is a standard 12/13/16/22 kit with original snare. Nothing horribly special but a step up from my Gretch Blackhawks that I had purchased back in 1980 from the Sears bargain basement.

Pic is kinda horrible, but here's a weird mixed kit I run for quieter stuff:

1950s 20x12" WFL Kick
1960s 12x8" Ludwig Club Date Tom
1970s 15x12" Ludwig B/O Floor Tom

All re-finned in brown sparkle lacquer... I bought these for the sound, not the looks.

The snare in this pic is a '65 Slingerland, but since the pic was taken I found a '67 Acrolite that I use for just about everything.

I have another old workhorse Coliseum that I need to get back in working order. It's bruised, battered and my favorite. I plan on switching these over to p-86s,unless the Dunnett R4-L comes out soon.
