For now I don't have any pictures of my Pearl but as soon as I get the chance to take some I will post 'em!

Like your set up, Jay.. am thinking of copying your set up ( i.w. removing 1 tom, sliding the two over and snuggling in the ride nice and low in the extra space created. Did you always play this set-up ? Does it take a while to adjust ?

I have played with various different setups, but always end up back in this configuration as I seem to find it most comfortable.
I started out playing on the standard 5piece setup with the two toms mounted off the bass drum, quite high up, therefore crazy angles, but the more I played and adjusted things the more it all settled down, lowered and flattened out.
Give it a try, change anything to anywhere, and see where you are most comfortable with it, get ideas from other kits, experiment and have fun.

That's my stripped and stained 1980 somethin' export. The shell wood content is a mystery, could be a mix of mahogany and/or poplar. It sounds like a birch kit, lot of low end. 12yrs of good service and still goin'

The kit was wrapped with a chromed tin sheet, it was bullet proof but the kit sounds much much better now.

Yes it's an all-maple 14x5.5, like your's, How do you like yours, i think it has a nice sound but lacks volume for certain styles. I switch to Unix snare drums, the PDP doesn't get played much anymore!

Haha, you know that's exactly how I feel about it. It has a nice sound, but it just lacks the balls. I heard a Vinne Paul snare today tuned up really nice and if I had 500 (Aus) bucks I'd have bought it then and there.

Here are my babies :) Pearl Export but I don't know what year. G2 over G1 on toms, Genera Dry on the snares and EMAD2 on the kick. The toms are 12", 13" and 16", the kick is 22" the snares are 13" Pearl Piccolo Maple and 13" by 6.5 Black Panther Cherry/Maple. The cymbals configuration I have it posted in "My Cymbal setup" thread, but If you want I can list it again. And I'm sorry about the Photoshop cleaning but the room is really messy:)))

Back in '04 i sold my Florida home and finally got debt free for the first time in my life since i was 20 and moved out to Denver, Colorado with everything i owned crammed inside my fifteen year old honda accord. For 2 years, this trusty little kit was a good part of my sustenance. Even recorded with the thing!!! Slapped on some evans genera g2's and it actually surprised the heck out of everyone who ever heard it!!

I have spent the last few days putting the finishing touches on my new Pearl Masters Custom MMX kit. Compared to my other kit (Ludwig Accent Custom zep kit) the Pearls are leaps and bonds above the Ludwig's. The Pearls have a very wide tunning range. I'm able to tune them very low (which is what I prefer). All the drums are virgin and with the 4ply maple shells with 4ply reinforcement rings the drums resonate forever. I'm using Remo Clear Ambassadors on batter and bottoms which really let the warmth of the maple sing. I could not be any happier. I have wanted a high end Masters kit for decades.

Man, these BLXs have a KICK-ASS sound!! These drums rock soo hard.. It is one of the best sounding drums in my opinion. It's a shame they are so rare (especially here in my country) And this finish is also really cool..
If you wanna know how birch drums should sound you gotta hear these drums..

Here are my current ones:

Pearl WX re-wrapped in Blue Sparkle (original: white wrap)
Pearl Wood-Fibreglass rewrapped in Gold Sparkle (original: yellowy creamy dirty)

The last one is a Session Custom I had just over a year ago. I sold it to my friend because all the metal-heads in my area got the Pearl Vision rip-off of the red-fade at the same time, and our band was going for 'indieness'.

Sounded awesome though. Fusion sizes, tons of tone and punch.
