Hi Uniin,

I saw your drumkit before, one of the reasons I bought it.
I have the only one in Belgium.
I waited 9 months for my 8" tom.

Well to be more specifically accurate they were the Granstar Customs, although I'm not sure if the GC's had the painted interior that the Crestars did.

Thanks! That's a picture I took at my old practice space a year or so ago. I'll have to shuffle around and see if I have any more photos. It's not currently setup.

Yeah, it came with the standard black head. With the off-white coated head, I was a little iffy if it would match well with the darker wood grain, but I ordered them and have been happy ever since. Make sure to order the off-white coated head (might be listed as the vintage one) and not the white one. The regular white one is just smooth, and not coated. I didn't want to port the 22", but I knew I was going to have to. I used to sell drums, and for whatever reason, I was never able to get rid of a certain 'tinggy' sound on the bubinga bass drums unless they were ported. The port makes a HUGE difference and helps so much. I still mic outside about an inch off center though, not using the port.

Hey there folks, first post on this superb forum!
I used to have a 6 piece Starclassic Maple in Coral Reef Blue color, but I had to sell it because it was a little bit too loud for my purposes, so I bought a Yamaha Stage Custom kit and all was fine. BUT I really wanted to go back to Tama and especially Starclassics, so I picked up this kit a couple of weeks ago and now I really remember why I bought Starclassic the first time!

Its Starclassic Performer Birch (Japan made) and I think the color is Diamond Dust (not sure, anybody??)

I'm not the OP, but I would think that they would. Here's my Tama Starclassic Bubinga kit with an 8" x 7" rack tom. My hats are to the left of the drum and not underneath it. I also play both traditional and matched grips, so I have to have room for the stick in my left hand to maneuver about the 8" tom.

Somewhat- I might have to raise it up a bit more & possibly trim off the top of the hi-hat rod.

I'm still getting comfortable around the kit )as a n00b).

Honda: If it were me I'd condense that rack to an 8, 10, 12 - then run the 14 and 16 as floors. I'd take the 13 and put it to the left, passed the hi-hat, as a side floor tom or timpani tuning. The 13 is kind of an odd one out in that run of even numbered sizes, you know? But that's just me, and what works for me doesn't for others. It's a lovely kit, besides - congrats! Wish my first kit was that nice. Look in the "your first band's name" to see the travestry that was my first kit!

Dennis - crap, man, that kit is beautiful.

Here is my 2010 Tama Superstar (birch shells). The only thing on my kit that isn't Tama is the Mapex Black Panther Cherry Bomb snare. Though in a week I am getting my custom bubinga stave snare which has taken around 2-3 months to make.

It is an 18" XS20 Medium Crash. It is a decent crash for it's price, but will definitely get something more up market once it cracks.

Hello people,

The 1st kit I bought, with my paper route money, was a Tama Granstar 5 piece. 1993 and it was the last year of Granstar. I had that kit 9 years. Big drums, but I always made sure they sounded great for any genre I was playing.

I have pics but they're not digital...maybe I should make them digital...

from 2002-2008 went Sonor for a while, and those were great drums. But 2008 came around and I wanted a "not maple" drum sound. The SC B/B's were the ideal choice! Further solidifying the fact that I am a Tama man, through and through!

Finish - Lava Glass Glitter - have sold the 14 tom and 13 snare since this pic, unfortunately. But...great drums!

Next: my Masai snare - before and after. The "after" photo has segmented bubinga hoops from Stellar Drums! Bootifull!

And last...just as I was about to swear off Maple kits, along came this gem, which was sitting in a music store since 2007 (before I bought my B/Bs). I thought, if this kit doesn't get sold, with this finish that it has, then...if it sits there long enough, I'll buy it!
And so it sat, and so I bought it...for a steal!!! I bought it last december after 4 1/2 years in that music store, three price slashes ($2299, then in 2009 for $1699, then in 2011 for $1499!! Guess how much I got it for?)

I present to you - Starclassic Maple in Scorched Copper Burst (my finish!!! I have decided)

6" Cup Chime, 8" Cup Chime, 10" Splash, 12" Splash, 18" Thin China, 18" Novo China

***First thing I'd like to do next is get a second bass drum; Then, either add a 16x18 Floor Tom to the right (and slide the 12x14 floor to the left), OR add a picolo to the left. Any suggestions?
