All this is so awesome! Today is my first post to Drummerworld!!! Just bought a 5 piece Custom Maple Absolute - Black Sparkle Sunburst (Don't have pics yet) after using a Tama Swingstar for 30 years! Wondering if anyone can recommend good heads for my new Yamaha? I was thinking G2 coated, but not sure.

Head choices are really quite subjective..

I would say that the industry standard G2 is a great choice!

I play for a guy who recently bought a kit for himself, and it's pretty damn decent to play live, so we take it to some shows. The first show we took it too, the bass drum case strap snapped, and I dropped the kick, and broke one of the hoops. He replaced the Orange hoops with some maple hoops, turns out they look pretty good! (My snare, cymbals and pedal)

It looks sweet with the black hardware, but I'm not a fan of clear bassdrum hoops.

These are my Yamaha Maple Custom Absolutes that I bought in 2001. They are the first gen Absolutes in Plum Maple. The sizes are 8-10-12-16 mounted toms, 18x22 kick, and 6.5x14 Ludwig Black Beauty snare. I just go the hex rack a few weeks ago and I'm loving it! I got the cover for tom mount in the bass drum from SoCal Mike. I still need to get a good close up to post in the "Like a Virgin" thread.

This is my new MCAN and it's my first ever kit. I got it a few weeks ago and I took these pictures this morning whilst setting up after its first gig last night. I loved it as soon as I got it but playing it last night for the first time in a performance really put it into perspective. I love it to bits! It's got an Akira Jimbo snare, Istanbul Sultan crash, Sultan jazz ride and Sultan hi-hats and a Zildjian A custom Rezo Pang. I feel incredibly lucky to have this kit, I also feel incredibly in debt! So here it is:

My daughter was in a tough financial bind. She needed fast cash, I had no other choice.
