Very pretty kit! That is a really gorgeous finish. And how do you like that deep forest cherry? I was really considering one of those. Do you have any clips of it?

here's two older but better pics of my drums themselves and one very recent setup pic. Performers in red sparkle fade.

Yes, quite intentional, I'm very picky about my drums' appearances!

That's one of my favorite Performer finishes!

And the Deep Forest Cherry snare drum sounds great. To use a cymbal term, it seems brighter than my other wood drums (except the other cherry). I even dig the gold hardware.

Man I'm only eatin bread and spaghetti right now cause I just bought some new hats. I feel blessed that I can afford that stuff, but it certainly doesn't come from any monetary overflow that I'm looking to get rid of. Really nice equipment doesn't really indicate somebody's wealth, but just the life that they live. Last year after I bought my 22 K con flattie, I decided I wouldn't buy any drum stuff besides sticks, heads, and other broken stuff because it was really expensive and I knew I didn't really need much else. Since I like to make beautiful sounds from drums and cymbals, et cetera, I find it pretty easy to go without a lot of other things for the sake of having that privilege.

Besides, I find it much better to have one smaller but better quality kit than to have a large kit of just ok stuff. I've accumulated my equipment over a decent few years and worked for all of it. Drumming is an expensive hobby (although I was in rodeo and I can tell you that drumming doesn't even compare to that, thank God) and you gotta make the best out of what you have. And don't forget that the dude from Mastodon plays superstars! (I think he still does)

Here's the deal, It does'nt matter how much money you make, my Star classic kit only cost about 1400$ bucks. Not to brag, but I make about 400 more than that a week. Now, to some thats not alot, but to me, I live a decent life on it. But I'm also a grown adult with a mortgage and priorities. I probably had a better chance of owning my dream kit when I was your age (20) than now at 40. So it all has to do with priorities. So maybe you have it better than you think! Oh and by the way, I've been playin' the same ride, A 22" zilj ping for about twenty yrs. Does'nt matter how much money I have, I just like the ride, never felt the need to get another.

I have tama rockstars that are in a finish only avalable on starclassic maples, does that count? BTW, how would i tell the difference between the shells of a starclassic maple and a rockstar, cause i'm not exactly sure what i have. The finish is starclassic, the hardware is rockstar and i don't know what the shells are

starclassic maples have the starclassic logo painted on. If yours is a badge it's not a starclassic maple.

Plus, normally it would say "maple shell/bubinga shell" on it underneath Starclassic
And birch has a closer wood grain than maple, and maple tends to sound just a bit differant (sarcasm) than birch basswood.
