Default Yamaha Updated Pedals.

Yamaha have updated their Flying Dragon Pedals. I have the 9410 and really can't see myself rushing out to the shops to upgrade to the 9415, there just aren't enough new features to justify getting the new model. Have a look for yourself HERE.

Aw geez they got rid of the glowing stickers! It brings nothing to your drumming but that was a cool idea for dark stages.

Otherwise, I could "upgrade" but more because I sell gear every few years to buy new gear just to keep things fresh so to say, than because new models are available. I would have liked them to bring back the old Yamaha beaters that they had before bringing out the FD series. The classic looking ones they have now are ugly and have a less fuller sound than flat beaters (as in the surface of the beater that comes into contact with the drumhead).

They got rid of the little machined bit at the bottom that says "Professional Model"! And the glowing stickers are gone! Glad I bought 2 before they changed that.

Mine don't say "Professional Model" but they do have the glow-y stickers.

I actually like the "lack of graphics" better. Gives the pedal a more "professional" look not having the words pro. model on the heal plate and the glow in the dark stickers. Kudos to Yamaha for tweaking the small stuff, but I don't see myself running out tomorrow to "upgrade". Yamaha will, perhaps, pick up new buyers with the newer "toned down" look. Those who were turned off by the original "teenage graphics" (I know there were some).

I share the same opinion about the absence of "professional model" on the heel plate not being a bad thing - It's just a place for dirt to cumulate. But the glow in the dark stickers - well actually the graphics that were on them - were part of the visual identity of the Flying Dragon series and again was a cool thing (no I'm not a teenage drummer lol). Then again, it's understandable that it did not please everyone.

I can't really make out on the pics but it looks like they have also dropped the bent support plates or am I dreaming?

Yep they have. The base plates are flat now.

Looks like the plate is flat, and the info. said Yamaha narrowed it. To accomodate closer hi-hat placement. Well, NAMM is 8 days away, so perhaps I'll get to meet/ talk to the designer. Yamaha is a great company that way. They will have the designers, engineers, builders and painters at the show. Not just the "suits". And when you get to meet with the "craftsmen" themselves, you realize Yamaha isn't just a big, faceless conglomerate.

Any chance of you keeping us informed with the input you'll get from the guys at Yamaha?

Certainly, if anything catches my eye. One year it was the bamboo snare line. Got to meet the cat behind that project. One year it was the mesh drum throne. Same thing. Show's less than a week away.

what difference are there between this and the older model?
i kinda like the older one better with the glowed lights and most importantly the fatter foot boards the new one narrowed it and i don't like it

so is there any part upgrades (better clams etc etc) or i think ill go with the old one
