Default DW VLTs

Here's my new DW Collectors VLT Maple. 16x22 / 7x8 / 8x10 / 9x12 / 14x16 in Tequila Sunrise Lacquer. (Bass drum is not VLT.) Snare usually is a Pearl Sensitone Classic Brass 5.5x14 but a new 6x14 Maple DW is coming soon.

Simply awesome!! I love that finish! So nice. I am in awe!!

The brass snare compliments the drums nicely too.

That's a really nice finish man! What does VLT stand for?

Thanks for all the compliments!

To answer some questions:

I prefer the Sensitone Classic brass over the regular Sensitone brass (I have both) -- maybe it's because of the tube lugs or the single-flanged hoops -- but the Classic has a better tonal range with better volume.

VLT means Vertical Low Timbre. By flipping the inner and outer plies, there was less tension put on the shell, thus a lower fundamental. VLT feature utilizes vertical plies on the inside and outside of the shell. And it really works! I get amazing depth out of the smaller size drums.

The DW5000T pedal is an old standard I've been using since the 1980s. The old Pearl P880 pedal comes a close second in my opinion, but the 5000 Turbo has solid, effortless action.

That finish is smokin'! Can't say enough about it, seriously.

Awesome kit!!!!!

Gotta love DW

I went all VLT on my gig kit, I also own another kit built in 2000 before VLT, I love them both
