Default yamaha / Remo stock heads

A new Yamaha Absolute series kit comes with clear Remo batter heads all around. Are the toms Ambassadors or Emperors and what type of Bass head? It's clear and has a white dampening ring around the edge. My guess is it's a single ply bass head? Powerstroke???

Thanks for your help

The toms are most likely Ambassadors. I got an Oak Custom a few years back and that's what came with it. I've seen the bass drum head but I have no idea what it is. It's definitely not a Powerstroke 3 though, but regardless it's an equivalent.

They are Ambassadors top and bottom on the toms.

As for the bass they are a Clear Powerstroke 4 and Ebony Powerstroke 3

My yamaha kit several years ago came with some kind of "u2" heads? I think they're remo but i'd never heard of them before.

They are chinese made Remo Ambassadors. They don't use the same Dupont mylar as the USA made Remo heads. They also have crimplock collars instead of regular glue channel collars.

Hey Pete,
My yamaha kit came with clear ambassadors top and bottom on the toms. The kick drum head resembled a PS3. The sales guy said it was a PS3 "equivalent". I played it and didn't quite like the sound so I got a legit PS3 and it sounded better. The front logo head was the same type of PS3 imitation, with a whitish plastic ring around the inside.

Hey Clint,

Thanks all for the info. I replaced the Evans EMAD on the bass due to the plastic sleeve that holds the felt dampener in place cracked and pulled away from the head. So I put the stock head on and was curious. Used on my New Years gig and was not too impressed but the room also had something to do with that. I just put an Aquarian SK2 on with the Evans internal muffler, still a work in progress for me trying to get a good deep punch.

Hope all is well
