PS3's are good for batters, but for the resonant head, you'll want a 1 ply clear unmuffled head. In most cases, anyway. The standards would be Clear Ambassadors, Clear G1s, or Aquarian Classic Clears. Or the Attack equivalent.

Yep! The batter heads are used as reso heads. The only heads that I know of that specify reso are snare side heads (They may not say reso but they are used only on the reso side of the snare.) |

I'd stay with a single ply like the ambassador or g1 you could also try a thinner head like a diplomat or evans resonant if you'd like a little brighter and open sound. Ambassadors and G1 can be used for either batter or reso heads. The problem with using a ps3 on the reso side is the tone ring built into the head will kill the tone from the bottom head, it's essentially like putting Zero rings on your resonant head, it will choke the sound.

amb or G1 clear on the resonant. I have tried the diplomat and the Genera Resonant on there and I personally do not like them. They just dont seem to match well to the 2 ply batter heads i use.
the PS3 on the resonant side should sound something close to a cardboard box... maybe slightly better. |
