The differences are: The DW boom arms are better quality. The DW rubber feet have adjustable spikes, PDP don't. The DW side rack is a full piece, PDP is just a half arm. Other than that all the tubes an clamps are the same.

I went to the musicians friend website, and the Pacific Drums by DW rack has the main rack with full side rack for 375.00 while the DW9000 series rack is just the main rack for 300.00,and they don't offer a side rack.

I agree that the DW booms are better quality, but the PDP booms aren't crap either. The PDP rack I have, is most definitely full sided...Curved front pipe with straight-pipe side. The PDP foot-spikes are adjustable, via drumkey...haven't had the need (ever) to use them though.

I also differ on the clamps being the same. The PDP clamps are superior (in small ways). The PDP clamps open fully to 180 degrees open and the fastening key is spring loaded to keep the washer back. Just makes it a little bit easier when slapping stuff together not having to fight with them. The DW clamp only opens to a smidge past the diameter of the tube and the washer is free. Again...only a small difference, but a difference none the less.

All in all, you shouldn't go wrong using either the PDP or the DW. Stay away from half-arm rack sides (just not strong if you ask me).

Differences are minor. Go with what you can get your hands on and see the differences yourself if at all possible.

Andy

Well, I didn't say the PDP were crap, just not as good of quality as DW. I only use the half arm side for a small cymbal and tambourine. I use the PDP with great results though.

Yep. I know you didn't say they were crap...sorry. Didn't mean to come across that way.

I was just meaning that while I agree that the DW were better....the PDP's weren't the worst I had ever put a cymbal on...lol.

I kinda figured as much...I knew we had chatted before about the PDP rack (there is a way early thread somehere).

I personally think they are the same. If you scroll down on the PDP page you'll see that the tubing says it's stainless steel. Also you'll notice that the DW & PDP part #'s are the same.
