Man, that sucks. Hopefully it was something not drug or alcohol related. No musician deserves to go out in that cliche way.

WOW , that really sucks. I saw Quiet Riot 4 times in the 80's. They always put on a great show and Kevin's voice was always on. No easy feat on most of their songs. I am going to buy the greatest hits CD and take a trip down memory lane.

Never much of a Quiet Riot fan, but it's still a tragedy that he's gone.

Will they drive him to the funeral in a big black Cadillac?

Las Vegas is such a small town that I feel like everyone who lives here is my neighbor. Robert Goulet just passed away and my wife Lou had actually been to his house. It is sad that a talented man like Kevin Dubrow is gone. I have great memories of listening to his music when I was young.

So sad to hear. "Metal Health" was definately a part of my Senior year.

I always though that "Twilight Hotel" was Kevin's best performance.

He will be missed.

Yea,

this is TOO sad, man! :-(

Saw QR back in ' 84 @ Coast To Coast, just outside Baltimore(no longer there).

And they were really a great band to see in a small club like that! Those guys were very accomplished muscians.

Carlos Cavazo on guitar. Rudy Sarzo on bass. Frankie Banali on the skins. And, of course...Kevin Dubrow behind the mic. They put on a GREAT show! I remember it like it was yesterday. They did the entire Metal Health album and did most of Condition Critical at that show.

It saddens me to hear of KBs' passing. Just a very unique singer in so many ways. When you heard KB sing, you KNEW it was him...

RIP KB! :-(

I really dug Metal Health and I have lots of great memories of that album. Quiet Riot is likely the greatest '80s butt rock band - and I say that with great reverence.

I saw Quiet Riot open for Van Halen at Glendale City College 1975/76. Great show. The rest, as they say, is history. Kevin knew how to work that mic stand. RIP man.

I agree with you... I saw Kevin and drummer Frankie Banali at a local steakhouse last year. I walked in and we had to wait to be seated. I was going to sit down on the bench behind me but there were two guys sitting on it. I said to my girl, these guys look like the guys in Quiet Riot. I hadn't seen them in years so ... I wasn't sure. A few minutes passed by and the waitress yells... seating for Kevin. I said to my girl, that is them!! I didn't bother to interupt them while they were eating but now I wish I would have or at least waited until they left. It turns out they were on tour and playing at a near by club. A few days later i went to Frankie's website, looked around and decided to email him and tell him how I was a fan in the 80's and how I saw him the other night... blah blah.. He actually wrote back and told me how he enjoyed the steakhouse and I should have come over and said hi.

Here is Frankie's myspace http://www.myspace.com/frankiebanali

Here is his website http://www.frankie-banali.com/

There is only a message and a picture up on his site. He took the site down on Monday. You could send him a message of support on his myspace. I know he will read and appreciate them. He's a class act and a solid no BS drummer.

My god...did anyone read the comments left on the article? http://www.tmz.com/2007/11/26/quiet-...home/#comments

Pure tasteless pieces of human garbage these people are. You may not like the band, but respect the untimely passing of a fellow human being who was a good father and friend I'm sure.

Yes, hiding behind "internet anonymity", these powerful warriors speak. What worries me the most is they're real people. They drive, they vote, they have kids and they think like that.

Yeah! That is indeed scary. I didn't read all of the comments. I stopped after seeing a few of the nasty ones. Sometimes I just don't understand people and why so many are so heartless. That's a nice way of putting it. I always say ingnore them. Don't acknoledge their comments and they dry up and blow away. The more attention you give someone that's like that, the nastier they get.

I don't know if anyone else knew yet, but the coroners report came back. Kevin unfortunately died of a cocaine overdose.

Well...

fourstrings. I, personally, wasn't aware of the final findings. Though, unfortunately, this doesn't surprise me. :-(

But in the same breath...this doesn't make KDs' death, any less tragic and sad.

Thanks for posting this link and lettin' us know, fourstrings.

I think it makes it even more sad because a rockstar dying of a drug overdose is so cliche. Not that him dying of anything else would have been better, but at least then you could say that he didn't go out that way.

I have no sympathy for successful people who destroy themselves with drugs. I appreciate DuBrow's contributions to music and the good memories they created, but someone who kills themself with a drug overdose is fundamentally a loser.

One of the funniest jokes in Spinal Tap was about their previous drummer choking to death on vomit (someone else's vomit). The deaths of John Bonham and Jimi Hendrix have now become punchlines. We laugh at their mindless self-destruction even as we admire their skills.

It's a hard thing to say about someone who's just passed away and left a mourning group of friends, fans and family. But times like this are about the only time the cliche can be taken seriously: Don't do drugs, especially and particularly ones that can kill you.
