Default Luen heads

Hello boys and gals.Just curious, has anyone here tried these Luen drumheads? They are from Brazil and apparently come in 2ply clear and coated versions.I found them on E-BAY,check it out, they're cheap.

I'd say these are generic and maybe even cheaper and provide worst sound than stock head coming on kits which are generally Remo UT or Evans G1.

My suggestion is : Dont touch !

I got a snare batter from them a few years ago at NAMM (it was dark grey, looked pretty cool!) probably comparable to a coated 1-ply. It was okay, really didn't sound good or bad. But snare sounds are very subjective, and you don't really hear a head at its best. Testing heads on toms is where you hear them sing.

If the price is attracive and you can afford to experiment, try a set on your toms and snare. But remember, they're Mylar heads just like Evans, Aquarian, Attack and Remo... so don't expect anything radically different.

I play Luens, they sound great. They're not generic at all. They're made with the same material as Remo, Evans, etc (mylar). I'm playing the 2ply clear on the batter side and 1ply clear on the reso. On my maple kit the heads are tonal and melodic. On my 12" and 14" snares, I playing the gray premium coated. That head has a dry tone and it cuts. I just ordered a new shipment today.

Here is a sample clip of the heads during sound check:
