Default Out with the old and in the the...well old (60s Ludwigs)

-aww man i messed up the title, oh well.

Finally I can have a thread with decent pictures

One of the pictures is my original vintage Ludwig, the WMP outside looka great, I kinda miss that finish, love it dearly. But, I love the slightly gingerale faded SS just a little bit more.. WMP set was from 68, SS from 67

All sizes 22" 13" 16" with a 67 Supra.

Zildjian cymbals with an old Sabian AA hi-hat.

Ludwig 60s Cowbell and speed king pedal (needs repaired at the moment so not shown.)

Pork Pie Throne and Bopworks sticks. And that sums up what I use/have.

But when I think about it, man I really loved that WMP set. Kinda wish I still had it, I must find another sometime in the future, then I could have both my favorite finishes...I should also note I traded the WMP set for the SS set at no loss.

Aw, classic kit. I'm a sucker for vintage drums, and the rail mounts.

Why'd you trade out the WMPs, if you don't mind me asking?

ha. No, I was just curious.. but hey, as long as you're pleased with the kit you've got, that's what matters.

I just realized I didn't answer your question, I thought you asked what happened and not why you traded lol.

I traded because I am a sucker for Silver Sparkle, the kit looks fantastic under any light. I love the WMP, but I was willing to trade it for the SS.

However it gets to me sometimes, I don't regret trading, I just would really like to own another WMP one some day. That is how it ends up when you trade your second favorite finish, for your first. Eventually I'll probably end up collecting.... but for now, this is my main kit for life.

The WMP kit was nice but I definitely like the silver sparkle alot more. Congrats.

Hey, most everybody's got a #1 favorite finish, I'd take a SS over a WMP any day. Another beautiful vintage kit. Good trade.

The white marine would be better if it weren't aged. The best WMP is the kind that is really bright white with a hint of blue, otherwise it can look really boring.

Some actually like the WMP faded like that (guy who I traded with), I like it too, but I actually would enjoy a fresh WMP finish better. I was going to get it refinished, but in another 40 years it will be just as faded again, plus it would cost me around $800 for a professional refinish from Jack Lawton. But then the sparkle deal came along and I didn't pass it up, unlike the WMP, it ages very well, I think it looks better then a fresh SS finish. That slight ginger ale fade looks great.
